Arqa link
[edit]The link to the village of Arqa redirects to a town in Lebanon. I don't think Lebanon is anywhere near Sudan or Ethiopia. RocketsFallOnRocketFalls (talk) 03:15, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Overlinking
[edit]Plenty of words/terms are overlinked, or are linked to disambiguation pages. The standard is one link of any given word/term in the lead, and another at first mention in the body, and no disambiguation links. There is a script for identifying duplicate links here which you might to use. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:19, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Tigray/TPLF involvement
[edit]Why is the TPLF and "Tigrayan refugees" listed as a belligerent? They are no mentions of any clashes with the TPLF in the entire article. In H:IB Wikipedia rules says that the only things that should be added to the infobox is material that is relevant to the article. So in my opinion this is a clear violation of the MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE (Infobox purpose); "to summarize (and not supplant) key facts that appear in the article (an article should remain complete with its summary infobox ignored, with exceptions noted below). The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance"
Hence the TPLF should be removed entirely from the infobox, but this is just my suggestion. @Revirvlkodlaku, thoughts?

- محرر البوق, I don't have in-depth knowledge of the situation, so I'm not able to answer the question "Why is the TPLF and Tigrayan refugees listed as a belligerent?" The reason I reverted your edit is that you made claims not in reference to the article but to the situation itself, and these tend to be controversial and often subjective, in large part due to the politicized nature of such a conflict. The factual nature of the claims you make or those you are trying to remove from the article or infobox isn't clear to me, and for that reason, I would prefer that you allow other editors to share their input on the subject. - Alright محرر البوق (talk) 02:56, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- My input:
- This article does not have anything that says Tigrayan forces are involved in the clashes.
- From the article: Ethiopia moved into the region to prevent Tigrayans from get help from Sudan.
- From the source next to Tigray in the infobox: Sudan arrested some TPLF fighters arriving in Sudan (but nothing saying there was any fighting)
- From the source next to Tigrayan refugees: "According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), as of 11 November, some 7,000 refugees had fled western Tigray state into neighbouring Sudan." I don't think that counts as a source saying Tigrayan refugees are involved in the clashes. Mtcat101 (talk) 01:43, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- Removed the militias/refugees point based on this, after looking it over. XTheBedrockX (talk) 14:22, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- XTheBedrockX shouldn't the Amnesty reference mentioning Tigrayan casualties be preserved in a more appropriate location within the article? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:32, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Revirvlkodlaku alright, added it back in, this tine in the Prelude section, as context for what the situation on the ground was like XTheBedrockX (talk) 17:24, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- @XTheBedrockX that looks good! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:04, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Merge proposal
[edit]Proposing that 2022 airplane shootdown in the Ethiopia–Sudan border into 2020–2022 Ethiopian–Sudanese clashes. It's part of the same conflict, it's short enough that it could fit into the timeline here with little issue, and as far as I'm aware, notable coverage of this event hasn't happened since it first occurred. XTheBedrockX (talk) 21:53, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Didn't see any objections, so I merged the contents of the other page into this one. XTheBedrockX (talk) 04:16, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 21 April 2023
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Moved. WP:CONCISE was used to support the move, with no policy arguments (nor any !votes) against, this is an unopposed RM. I will also mention the RM regarding the district on question. Should that RM pass, this page most likely should be moved for consistency with that. 2020–2022 Ethiopian–Sudanese clashes → Al Fushqa conflict – Shorter, and more precise title, per Al Fushqa District area in dispute. Alternatively Al Fushqa District conflict could be used. It would be useful to receive the participation of an expert in this matter because I know almost nothing about this conflict. Super Ψ Dro 16:55, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support as the clashes or the conflict does not go beyond Al Fushqa where Sudan and Ethopia share boarders
- FuzzyMagma (talk) 11:56, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support, I agree that it is more precise Presidentofyes12 (talk) 12:12, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support clearly an improvement محرر البوق (talk) 20:03, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom. – Treetoes023 (talk) 03:57, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Comment by nom. I also started a RM at Al Fushqa District as it appears to be more commonly known as Al-Fashaga. If that RM is successful, I imagine it would not be controversial to apply the change name here, to Al-Fashaga conflict. Super Ψ Dro 07:41, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Improvement, of course. Although the people at Al Fushqa District has been wanting to rename the title to Al Fashaga because the “district “ part apparently doesn’t fit the administrative status of the region. Also, the region is usually called “Al Fashaga” as most Google Scholars refer to it as such, 90 IIRC for Al Fashaga and only 4 IIRC again for al Fushqa.
- Also, most people that I know of refer to it as “Al Fashaga” and so do regional governments near the area, as far as I know. Adam Ladson (talk) 12:31, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- just read the Comment by nom and I feel stupid 😭 Adam Ladson (talk) 12:32, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support as, from what sources I've read, I don't believe the conflict involved the Ethiopian government but rather small groups of ethnic militias.
