Do not do that. As the article states, lifting bodies are a type of fixed-wing-aircraft. An aircraft is any flying machine including both lighter-than-air and heavier-than-air vehicles. How do aerodynes work?
[edit]Heavier-than-air craft achieve lift using Bernoulli's principle to create a lower pressure area above the lifting surfaces and a relatively higher pressure area under the lifting surfaces. Typically the lifting surface is a portion of the aircraft called a wing but sometimes the fusalage of the aircraft is the lifting surface resulting in a lifting body.
This concept includes classes:
- ornithopters: a rarer type of aircraft that is neither fixed-wing, nor rotary-wing but rather achieves lift by flapping its wings vertically like a bird.
- Rotorcraft: helicopters, autogyros, gyrodynes which achieve lift by rotating their wings (called rotors) relative to the fusalage.
- Fixed-wing aircraft: airplanes, gliders, lifting bodies which achieve lift by moving their fusalage, and attached wings, through the air.
