Orphaned references in Adipurush

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Adipurush's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "budget":

  • From Ajay Devgn FFilms: "'Bol Bachchan' crosses Rs 50 crore mark". ibnlive.in. 10 July 2012. Archived from the original on 12 July 2012.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 13:31, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

In above paragrapgh Lankesh was mentioned as demon king? He is not. He is the Shiva Bakthar and not a demon.

Kindly edit it.

About Box Office

Hello, I came across the claim that the film's box office collection reached 410 crores, but it is completely false. The reference they used does not state anywhere that it earned 410 crores. According to reliable sources like Bollywood Hungama, the actual worldwide box office collection is 164.51 crores. Feel free to verify this information with a trustworthy source. https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/movie/adipurush/box-office/ 27.147.202.26 (talk) 05:12, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

Positive critical response to cast performances

I think it should be mentioned that despite the overall negative critical reception of the film, acting has been praised. I have read reviews, especially those mentioned in RECEPTION section, and critics did have said some good things about cast performances, not their characters though, particularly of Prabhas and Saif. Erenyeager008 (talk) 07:56, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

Erenyeager008, we cannot read the reviews ourselves and create a reception summary from them. That is a form of original research called synthesis, which is combining multiple sources to form a conclusion that no individual source explicitly states. Synthesis is not permitted on Wikipedia. Also keep in mind that reviews placed in a Wikipedia article are hand-picked by Wikipedia editors. They may or may not represent the consensus of reviews among all critics, which is another reason to avoid summarizing them. In order to include a summary, it must be cited directly to a reliable source that has created the summary for us. --GoneIn60 (talk) 05:08, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Where is public reviews section? Why do they only talk about critics reviews?

It is possible that the critics could be tipped off to say positive about the films. Why is there no IMDB section where the public is bashing the movie left and right? Also, why is there no YouTube reviews section added where public reviews are recorded. These critics reviews are always biased. There should be a public reviews section added on this page based on how the general public reacted, not the critics from various companies. The only thing that matters is public reviews, not the critics reviews. They are the public viewers who go to the theatre, put money from their pockets to watch the movie. These reviewers from various companies, nobody believes them, most of them are either biased or tipped off. Add a public reviews section where the general public can come and directly write their reception or reviews here. 2400:1A00:BAA0:6B35:EDF7:CEC2:A6D0:F4EA (talk) 21:30, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

citations and cast performances

The reviews in the listed citations don't actually address cast peformances, absolutely none of the reviews mention a single cast performance. the title of the citation and the content are polar opposites Johnbritto15 (talk) 21:56, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

I have removed the "cast performance" mention for now, but upon further review, there is some praise cited in this Business Today source about halfway down (not just the subtitle). However, it's clear from this source that while Prabhas and Kriti Sanon received praise, the villian did not. So we can't really say "cast performances", because not all of the main characters/actors were praised. We also shouldn't single out and focus on Prabhas or Sanon in the lead section, because this reception summary is already getting pretty wordy. Best to leave cast out of this. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:24, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
I think that is just one review nevertheless. I agree with the premise that if the cast performances need to be praised we could just do it with a citation that solely focuses on them They call me Kill Bill Pandey (talk) 04:51, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Here is a better citation which focuses solely on critic reviews. And we can clearly see that some critics have praised the cast performances.
Adipurush, with its stellar performances and visual grandeur... by https://www.addatoday.com/2023/06/adipurush-movie-review-stellar.html
Saif Ali Khan towers over everybody else....Prabhas has strong screen presence... by https://www.ndtv.com/entertainment/adipurush-review-part-planet-of-the-apes-part-king-kong-1-5-stars-4126780
Prabhas is believable as Raghav right from the first scene...Kriti Sanon as Janaki is beautiful on screen...Saif did a rather decent job with it by https://www.indiatoday.in/amp/movies/reviews/story/adipurush-movie-review-prabhas-excels-as-raghav-but-substandard-vfx-is-a-let-down-kriti-sanon-om-raut-2393586-2023-06-16 aggarwala2727 (talk) 06:01, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
most of the citations don't address cast performances though, for most movies we could find 2-3 reviews that praise a certain aspect, doesn't project a unanimous front, no? They call me Kill Bill Pandey (talk) 06:22, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
I just linked you 3 reviews that praised the cast performances explicitly. Obviously, some critics are going to go the other way, that doesn't mean the cast performances weren't praised, right? The general consensus on the movie both among watchers and the critics has been in positive of the cast performances. aggarwala2727 (talk) 06:25, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
yeah I don't disagree with you, I'm just saying how it might look like that's all. this citation is clearly better though They call me Kill Bill Pandey (talk) 06:27, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
"that doesn't mean the cast performances weren't praised, right?" – Actually, this is why we depend on review aggregators like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic for films in the US. In order to form a summary about reviews, a reliable source that is doing that summary analysis for us is needed. For example, let's say you found 5 reviews praising the cast, but there are in actuality 20 reviews disparaging the cast performances. We can't then say they were generally praised, because that wouldn't be accurate. WP:FILMLEAD specifically requires, "Any summary of the film's critical reception should avoid synthesis, meaning it should reflect an overall consensus explicitly summarized by one or more reliable sources."
If you cannot find a source analyzing multiple reviews and then saying cast performances were generally praised, then we shouldn't be saying that either. Also when it comes to that kind of analysis, the source needs to be highly reputable as well. Some random source looking at a handful of reviews doesn't qualify. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Thank you @GoneIn60, that is my point too. I’m not against the movie, I have just championed for such a reference! Johnbritto15 (talk) 15:13, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately, there isn't a similar solution like RT or Metacritic for Indian cinema. Although, this particular film seems to have its own page on RT. Sadly for us, they haven't provided a general consensus like they do for most films. I'm not sure what source is then considered as "highly reputable" for Indian Cinema's critical analysis. In fact, I'd also like to see a reputed source analyzing multiple reviews and affirming that the soundtrack received praise, as is what is visible in the lead section currently.
I'm now surprised not many Indian cinema articles have similar disputes. aggarwala2727 (talk) 17:24, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
@Aggarwala2727 i think this is because not many movies in indian cinema polarise opinions especially wrt cast performances, imo it is more of a recent thing that has come with superstardom. Johnbritto15 (talk) 21:09, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Yes, it can be a bigger challenge in other countries. I would defer to anyone that has good knowledge of the most reputable Indian sources. If you can find one that others accept as very reliable analyzing multiple reviews, that will probably work. The bottom line is that we can't do our own analysis, which is a form of original research. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:45, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
