black stone was kept as a footstool in the castle built by this man
[edit]I just came across this sermon by an indian scholar who suggests that after the black stone was stolen by this man's invasion of mecca, he built a castle in "al hasa" and on placed the black stone as a footstool for 20 years. [1]
