House Attack

[edit]

IP editor tried to add the following section in:

Palestine controversy and attack on house

In 2021, during the Israel-Palestine conflict, a video resurfaced where Ajmal was shown to be saying that Palestinians should exile rather than stay in Palestine. This clip was posted by popular Muslim preacher and apologist Mohammad Hijab, and caused massive outrage among the Muslim community. Ajmal later said that the resurfaced video was fake and out of context, saying: “ "This is NOT a video I have created, or uploaded, but is instead cut and pasted and uploaded by my haters in an absurd attempt to defame me. The really disgusting element is how these people are exploiting the Palestinian tragedy to further their hateful agendas against me.“

Hours after Ajmal talked about the clip, a group of thugs broke into Ajmal’s Birmingham house, throwing bricks at the windows and breaking the front door, then rushing upstairs to confront Ajmal, who was not at home at the time. The thungs were shown as saying "Yo, this is for that dirty dog, Abu Layth, who disrespects our brothers and sisters of Palestine.” before shouting "come on, you m***********". Ajmal lagrd said that none of his family was hurt, but it left his 6 and 9 year old daughters “traumatized”. He said that he had always supported the Palestinian cause and that he thought Israel was a “terrorist state”.

Despite the IP editor's best intentions, this is not very encyclopedic. Nevertheless the event itself can be included if reliable sources are found - so far I did not include it as I thought only the Sun, Daily Mail etc. have covered it and those are problematic sources. However if there are reliable news sites that have covered this then I think it can be added in.

Some notes on what to avoid:

  • Avoid anything not stated explicitly in the source.
  • Avoid calling the suspected assailants "thugs", unless this is part of a quote that someone has said.
  • Do not quote anything off of social media, stick to the news report.
  • Those said to be assailants are suspects, we should not really cover such events according to policy (until they have been sentenced) - but I think it will be fine here so long as we keep them unnamed.
  • Undue weight should not be given to the topic, Wikipedia is not a news site. A line or two should suffice. His views on Palestine are already detailed in a particular subsection.

If you are in any doubt, please review the Biography of a Living Person Policy before making your edit.

JohnsonJohnson82 it seems you are keen to improve the article as of late, and you've certainly done so by adding in the much needed image. If you want, go ahead and write up this event, provided you can find reliable sources for this. If you, or any other editors, are unsure, feel free to post the name of the work/website on here beforehand to assess its reliability.

Notablity

[edit]

this article should not be so long, it needs a serious review, it sounds like it is written by the subjct himself or someone very close to him. The details are not always important and not all sources match up. He speaks 5 languages? But yet no evidence of even Arabic. So this is a vanity article. The language and the length is not reflected of his notability. Some of the references like Brekke, Torkel; Larsen, Malik (2020). make no mention of him and it is unclear their significance to his bio. His greatest accomplishment is being arrested for porn and some people broke into his yard. Beyond that, I struggle to see what is so notable about the subject. --Hausa warrior (talk) 07:03, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nahiem AjmalAbu Layth – Clearly WP:COMMONNAME for this figure. He is rarely ever known by his real name "Nahiem Ajmal" and usually known by his kunya Abu Layth. All of his socials and his website are titled Abu Layth and the sources in the article refer to him as "Abu Layth" instead of Nahiem Ajmal. Leithiani (talk) 13:50, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
