No, I never said such a thing. This statement about Salam is untrue. Steven Weinberg ________________________________________

Dear Professor Weinberg

I hope you are doing great.

I am sorry to bother you but as a newspaper in Pakistan is making this claim on your behalf I wanted to check with you for the record.

Is it true that you said Abdus Salam did not make any significant scientific contribution and was unfairly co-nominated for the Nobel Prize; or something to that effect?

Thank you

Regards

xxx

Some Reference On Sanatam Dharma College

[edit]

I came here to check the reference to how he met with his teacher from Sanatam Dharma college. I don't see it in his early education only in the same anecdote with the teacher. And it seems like there is only the same reference. Can we actually have a reference to his early education in Sanatam Dharma college in his early years, or if we can't verify modify the teacher reference to not include the part about his having studied at Sanatam Dharma.

Institutes named after Abdus Salam

[edit]

The list of institutes mentions "Abdus Salam Centre for Physics (Department of Physics), Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan", but the university website physics department (https://phys.qau.edu.pk/) does not mention Abdus Salam. Also in this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoJH1-mgpo0&list=PL3FMLcIo9R3AQlT0SH3BY-T5M7ud1LNka), Pervez Hoodbhoy mentions that the name of the physics department was not changed to honor Abdus Salam. The reference given in the wikipedia page seems to be a government order which was never executed. Hkhooda (talk) 08:13, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
