Is that symbol an A?

[edit]

Does the symbol stand for Ayumi Hamasaki? In ictu oculi (talk) 06:02, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it does, http://www.avex.jp/upload/emoji/2.gif ...can that inline A font legally be uploaded (source http://avex.jp/ayu/index.php ) from the Ayumi official website for use in first line of the album lead? In ictu oculi (talk) 01:08, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: Withdrawn; RM pulled by proposer, the special character complicates the basic "Best 2" issue too much to get consensus. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:58, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A Best 2Best 2 (Ayumi Hamasaki albums) – Special character File:Ayu_symbol.gif: We have Prince album "File:Prince logo.svg" at Love Symbol Album, we have Got7 album GOT♡ at Got Love, so we shouldn't really be attempting to mimic the Ayumi-symbol.jpg (also here) with a big A. Yes sure in Japanese sources and on retail sites it is listed as big A too, but those same sites have "浜崎あゆみ 『A BEST 2』" to show that it is a Greatest Hits Vol.II by Ayumi Hamasaki, so those sources are relying on "浜崎あゆみ/Ayumi Hamasaki" to provide reader WP:RECOGNIZABILITY not the attempt at the Ayumi-symbol.gif, A Best 2 will still redirect here, so everyone wins. Alternatively, if there's support for retaining the A, then A Best 2 (Ayumi Hamasaki album) is still an improvement to the reader experience. 'A' Best 2 doesn't seem an improvement. • Oppose. First, this article actually covers two albums, "A Best 2: White" and "A Best 2: Black", so the proposed title is immediately a no-go. Second, assuming "A Best 2" is established in English reliable sources, it serves as natural disambiguation, which is preferable to a parentheses. I'm not sure how established the title is in English sources; it would be nice to see that evidence put together before these RMs.--Cúchullain t/c 15:31, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We often use (album) for 2-part compilations, but we can use (albums) if anyone wants to make an issue of it. [done]
If "A Best 2" were established in English reliable sources we wouldn't be having this RM. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:33, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
According to the article, it's not a two-part compilation, it's two different albums (A Best 2: White and A Best 2: Black) released separately.
This English-language book on Billboard hits and MusicJapanPlus's English site[1][2] has the albums listed as A BEST 2... As this form appears to be established in English, I hold to my contention that it's preferable natural disambiguation over a parenthesis.--Cúchullain t/c 14:45, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If it is known (by sources) that the "A" like symbol is read as "Ayu", then the move should be to "Ayu Best 2". --MASEM (t) 13:12, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. But I think that's just "Ayu simboru" in Japanese language fan blogs, we'll never find a WP:RS for that. In any case it's not really the main issue, the issue is recognizability, which in texts is always given by "Ayumi Hamasaki" and the proliferation of other Best 2 albums per WP:SONGDAB, whether this album is simply "Ayumi Hamasaki Best 2" in some sources, or rather which if any sources pass WP:RS.
