suggestion to redirect this page

[edit]

Hello everyone! I've suggested that we move this page to AC4 (band) and make AC4 a redirect to the disambiguation page AC-4. My suggestion can be found at Talk:AC-4 if anyone wants to add their opinion. Have a good one everyone! DirkJandeGeer щи 20:02, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 25 April 2022

AC4AC4 (band) – As I put in a talk section at Talk:AC-4, I think moving this page to AC4 (band) and then making AC4 a redirect to AC-4 (a disambiguation page) would be a good idea, this is largely because two other AC4 pages, particularly AC4 tank and USS Cyclops (AC-4) get quite a few more pageviews than this page. I thought that moving this page would make it more clear to people which AC4 article they're going to land on when they put "AC4" into the search bar. My idea is to move this page, correct any wikilinks which currently point to AC4 so they point to AC4 (band), then make this page a redirect to AC-4. One reason I could think off in opposition to my idea is that AC-4 doesn't get many pageviews, and so people might not be using it as a disambiguation page enough to justify redirecting AC4 towards it. If anyone dislikes my plan for that or any other reason, by all means feel free to let me know, I'd love to hear your input. Have a good one everyone! here's a link to show the pageviews for this page and the other two AC4 articles I mentioned https://pageviews.wmcloud.org/?project=wiki.riteme.site&platform=all-access&agent=user&redirects=0&start=2021-04-18&end=2022-04-18&pages=AC4_tank%7CUSS_Cyclops_(AC-4)%7CAC4 DirkJandeGeer щи 20:02, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. The difference between "AC4" and "AC-4" is too minor, given as there are many entries on the disambiguation page AC-4 for both spellings. JIP | Talk 22:18, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support no clear primary topic[[1]] and move the DAB page here per WP:DABNAME, the simplest form is generally preferred and is the term most readers will use. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:53, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Crouch, Swale! Thank you for your answer, about your point regarding DABNAME, I've noticed that a few other pages like AA-1 and BC-1 still have hyphens in their name, I seem to remember seeing a page be moved from the YYX format to the YY-X format because other similar pages were like that, but I'm afraid I can't remember which page. If this move request passes, would it be worth doing a separate larger move request to remove the hyphens from letter/number combination article pages? I'm not familiar with the history of such pages so any input is greatly appreciated. Have a good day! DirkJandeGeer щи 11:32, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Generally DAB pages should be at the simpler form unless all the uses use the more complicated form or perhaps if the generic term the others are named after uses the more complicated form but yes indeed similar titles should be considered per WP:CONSISTENT. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:07, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination, JIP and Crouch, Swale. The Swedish hardcore punk band is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. "AC4" should redirect to the AC-4 disambiguation page. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 21:46, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Move completed

[edit]

Hello everyone! thanks for all the help with my move request, I've edited all wikilinks within articles which pointed towards AC4 to make sure they point towards AC4 (band), and AC4 now redirects to AC-4. If you'd like to review the edits I made to those wikilinks, they're in Special:contribs/DirkJandeGeerTwo, DirkJandeGeerTwo being my secondary account for high-ish volume repetative edits. Have a good one everybody! DirkJandeGeer щи 21:54, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
