Proposed Move from ABC News (USA) to ABC News
- Support-Most of the links to ABC News are for ABC News (USA). Besides, who will correct all of the links to ABC News that are supposed to go to the US news organization? Whoever moved this article from ABC News to ABC News (USA) can't just leave everyone else to relink everything. Move the page back to ABC News. Jonyyeh 01:56, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support-This is what is likely to be searched for. Georgia guy 13:13, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - People in the USA may be searching for this article, but equally others from english speaking countries like Australia will be primarily searching for the Australian ABC News. Therefor ABC News should be a disambiguation page. Canderra 17:10, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support - I agree with Georgia guy; when most people search for ABC News anywhere, they are searching for the American ABC News and not the Australian, or any other, version. Therefore, it is only fair that the main search term be directed to this page. Thistheman 20:53, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support - As per Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Primary topic, based on the fact that there currently is no disambiguation page, and the fact that Special:Whatlinkshere/ABC News currently shows that the majority of links in existing articles pertaining to the American news organization are pointing to ABC News. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:25, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Although, I still will not mind the American Broadcasting Company News option. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support Pacific Coast Highway (blah • typa-typa) 19:40, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose, create a disambiguation page. People who live in the US shouldn't assume that the US version of something should be the default, or the most likely, of anything. - Richardcavell 22:22, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Comment; no one said default, we said most common. Pacific Coast Highway (blah • typa-typa) 22:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support. Most common/Passing primary disambiguation thru a redir is a waste of time and resources/With only two topics, top-of-page disambiguation better than a disambig page. (and FWIW ABC News (United States) would probably be better than USA) Seattlenow 00:48, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support. It may just be a function of the USA's sheer population relative to Australia, but the US "ABC News" is by far the most common meaning worldwide. And "American Broadcasting Company News" is just wrong, since it's never called that on air. Kirjtc2 14:49, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose per Canderra & Richardcavell. --Ptcamn 15:22, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I don't care what it's at, so long as it isn't yet another American thinking that the rest of the world doesn't exist. I'll move it as you suggest. Tannin
- You're quite right .. though i added a redirect from ABC_News .. thought as it is mentioned like that quite often in articles. Ebricca 18:14, 16 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- I know there is little chance of anybody reading this since these comments were made ages ago, but why? What's wrong with "ABC News"? That's what it's called... Watch your local ABC station. They don't say "American Broadcasting Company News"... --Peng 15:07, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
- The problem is that "ABC News" can refer to multiple items, mainly Australian BC News and American BC News. Both have an equally valid claim to the name and so the obvious solution is to append a (USA) or (Australian) suffix on the end and make "ABC News" a disambiguation page, listing both articles. I don't see what the problem with this obvious solution is? I just can't understand why it wasn't done years ago. Canderra 02:41, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Redirect from ABC News
This really needs a redirect from ABC News, or nobody's gonna visit this page.

Heavy Christian Emphasis
Having watched probably about a dozen episodes of the ABC Evening News program on late-night cable from my home country of the UK over the past few months, I couldn't help but notice a very prominent Christian underpinning to pretty much every show. To date, I think every episode I've seen has shown atleast one or more stories which have either featured interviews with members of the clergy or stories which have had some form of religous emphasis.
This seemed extremely odd to me as here in the UK it is quite rare to see a religous figure or for stories to have a religous emphasis on the evening news programs. I am wondering therefore, is ABC News known for having a particularly evangelical Christian overtone or does religion just feature reguarly on most US TV news programs? Canderra 20:57, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've noticed that too, and I'd say it arrived with the departure of Peter Jennings. I believe the management of ABC News made a deliberate decision to try to appeal to a completely different market segment and saw the change of anchorship as the obvious indication of their new direction. And so every episode has to have at least one story arranged to pander to American Christian conservatives. I don't know if it will work for them; speaking just for me, I changed the channel. If I wanted that sort of news, I'd have already been watching Fox News.
- Absent a quote from management or some media-watch group, though, I don't think we can include this in the article, no matter how obvious it is to us.

- This is one of the most surprising comments I've heard about network news in awhile. I stopped watching any network news except Fox when the Iraq War started. I laugh when I hear people say Fox isn't conservatively biased; almost as hard as when someone says network news isn't liberally biased. While I'd prefer watch "objective" reporting, as a libertarian with conservative values my choice is an easy one. That being said, I'll have to check out ABC News once in awhile to see if they've changed as you say. Lawyer2b 03:56, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like it didn't work out for them all that well, even with Lawyer2b's added viewership. Down 10% of their audience/~1,000,000 viewers, Vargas out, ... Ahh well. Maybe they'll get back to real news now? They hit Denny Hastert pretty hard last night.

New section about Liberal bias
Hi, I just did a little editing on the 'edges', so to speak, and I noticed a new section saying "While many do not call ABC News a Liberal-biased News Channel, it does subtly reflect this in much of it's reporting." I changed it to "While many do not call ABC News a Liberal-biased News Channel, it does subtly reflect this in much of it's reporting."
I don't know whether or not this is correct, but I wasn't sure whether that section should be there or not. Any thoughts?
Just as an aside, I think that a disambiguation page should've been established. --Will alpha-test for food. 03:41, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

DISHONEST OBAMA
Obama,
Why have you not made a clear statement that Obama used a Muslim bible to be sworn in as a U. S. senator?
It IS important that we have a non muslim for our president.
my wife and I are international missioaries. We have seen the hatred of the radical muslims in Kenya. Obama's close ties with that religion is very dangerous.
This country was founded by GOD fearing people. Obama is just a slick talking dishonest person with ill intentions for this country.
- Wikipedia deals with verifiable information. That statement has been greatly denied [1]. Plus this article is on a news program not on Obama. GtstrickyTalk or C 13:06, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Non-neutrality controversy ?
Ongoing complaints of ABC political bias were echoed by critics pointing out an ABC News headline (since removed from ABC's News Web site) describing Palin as a "Pitbull" and the following day placing rapper P. Diddy's video about Sarah Pailinrun on 10/3/2008 on the front page of the ABC News website with the video title on the ABC site: "I'm afraid of Sarah Pailin". Critics point out that ABCs [lack of?] journalistic neutrality and obvious support of one candidate over another come into focus with news coverage like this. P. Diddy has a history of implying that Pailin is racist despite the fact that her husband is of Eskimo descent and her children are bi-racial.

ABC News (America) → ABC News — Primary meaning. The dis-ambiguation page, which has other meanings, it at ABC News (disambiguation). Georgia guy (talk) 14:32, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

- Looking at ABC News (disambiguation), it seems clear that there are multiple news services operating under that name. The Australian service, in particular, seems to be of roughly equal importance to ABC News in the U.S. I haven't heard of ABC News in the Philippines before, but that also looks quite notable. I would advocate moving the disambiguation page to ABC News, rather than have that location as a redirect to this article. 84.92.117.93 (talk) 23:49, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Is ABC ignoring or underreporting some major news stories???
Does anyone do long-term tracking of ABC & the other mainline media? A major story possibly ignored or underreported by ABC till it got to big to ignore might be the June 6 2010 large protest at Ground Zero against a mega-mosque to be built about 600' away by a controversial leader. I searched ABC's online site for the June 6 2010 protest at Ground Zero (Estimated 5-possibly 10,000 protestors protested against a proposed "mega mosque" at Ground Zero. Search online to see many photos that show a large, peaceful protest with speakers from various racial, ethnic backgrounds on this controversial proposed "mega mosque" and its leader.)
- On the ABC online site (as of this day) I do see ABC listed coverage from about June 25 onward. Some charge that ABC and its like under report or ignore some major news stories or cultural phenomenons until they get too large to ignore. Thus, I place this issue in "discussion" instead of into the article. 71.155.238.150 (talk) 18:26, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

- Support reversal of recent undiscussed move from stable title. The US article had 22,749 pageviews last month compared to 607 for Albania and 5,635 for Australia. The US article also has more than three times the number of incoming wikilinks as does the Australia article. These are two of the objective criteria suggested at WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Per WP:TWODABS we don't really need a dab page for only three articles; in any case the Australia article should be mentioned in the hatnote so readers can get there with one click, as quickly as through a dab page. Besides, if the article is moved to ABC News (US) literally thousands of incoming links would need to be fixed. Station1 (talk) 19:19, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- I now support the move due to Station1's very logical argument. Thank you for the information on page views and incoming links, Jenks24 (talk) 19:38, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: As stated by others, a unilateral move should not have been made. There have already been various rename and move discussions such as Talk:ABC News/Archive 1#Proposed Move from ABC News (USA) to ABC News and Talk:ABC News/Archive 1#Requested move. Much worse, the edit to the resulting redirect was basically an unattributed cut and paste move of ABC News (disambiguation). [2] Thus, from a Wikipedia policy point of view, it should be moved back even if this discussion ultimately results in no consensus. That said, I still would not mind a title like American Broadcasting Company News. Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:41, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

- Comment: Zzyzx11 is entirely correct that this page should not have been moved to a new title without discussion, and that the disambiguation page should not have been cut-and-paste copied. As a temporary fix, I have redirected ABC News to this article; this restores the status quo ante for all of the (hundreds and hundreds) of other articles that contain links to that title, as well as for external links. Once this discussion is completed, either the disambiguation page or this article can be moved (not copied and pasted) to the plain title in accordance with whatever the consensus turns out to be. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:36, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: undiscussed move reverted. Anyone should feel free to start a new WP:RM, but please refrain from moving the article without first getting a consensus. Jenks24 (talk) 13:20, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
ABC News United States → ABC News – The name of the company is simply ABC News. Less well-known meanings of ABC News are at ABC News (disambiguation), and that page has existed for quite a while. But somebody messed up the titles and made ABC News a dis-ambiguation page. I tried to revert, but I couldn't revert completely. Georgia guy (talk) 12:59, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on ABC News. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20090621053357/http://corporate.disney.go.com:80/wdig/press_releases/2005/2005_0628_disney.html to http://corporate.disney.go.com/wdig/press_releases/2005/2005_0628_disney.html
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
