Throughout the spring and early summer in 2017, there were no announcements or news reports regarding the 4Knots Music Festival or any festival that would possibly be presented by the Village Voice. As far as I know, there was no word from the Voice of any cancellation or termination of this largely indie/alt/experimental rock showcase.
That being the case, one must conclude that, after 16 straight years, the Village Voice has discontinued their presentation of any music festival, whether at South Street Seaport (4Knots 2011-14, 2016), at the Hudson Piers (4Knots 2015) or at Coney Island (Siren Fest 2001-10), and there will be no more festivals like this, unless someone approaches the Voice to buy the rights to the names of one or both of these festivals (especially Siren) and revive them. :-(
If anyone (from the Voice itself or anywhere else) who reads this has any information as to why the Village Voice Music Festivals are no more (and I suspect one reason to be the obvious), please post.
