City council titles

According to https://www.annapolis.gov/483/City-Council, the titles of the City Council members are "alderman" and "alderwoman". "Alder" appears to be used in very few places, such as the City of New Haven. While I support the use of the title by elected officials in preference to the gendered terms, I do not support referring to people by a title that isn't theirs. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:06, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
