Gray Family Update
[edit]Colin told officers in the 2023 interview in Jefferson that his son was often picked on by bullies who’d touch him, pinch him and taunt him, even at times called him "gay" adding that Colt’s bullies “ridiculed him day after day.” There's new troubling information about the Gray family saying that the family had a history of brief separations. Exactly a year prior to the shooting, the teen’s younger siblings immediately moved to live with Marcee in Fitzgerald while Colt stayed under the care of Colin in Bethlehem near Winder. Marcee said "If I could take their place, I would." A relative says that Marcee warned the school on the extreme emergency. 2600:1702:5225:C010:B13F:7A8D:FE0B:544B (talk) 03:21, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Location of the school
[edit]See previous discussion at Talk:2024_Apalachee_High_School_shooting/Archive_1#Location_of_the_school_is_not_in_Winder,_Georgia.
As for my view, I need to re-iterate why it is best to say that the school is "near" Winder (or that it's in an unincorporated area) that even though many reliable sources say that the school is "in" Winder, they are just relying on the US Postal Service.
- From the city of Houston: "The U.S. Postal Service establishes ZIP codes and mailing addresses in order to maximize the efficiency of their system, not to recognize jurisdictional boundaries."
Example: The consensus at Attempted assassination of Donald Trump says the event happened near, not in, Butler, Pennsylvania. (see Talk:Attempted_assassination_of_Donald_Trump/Archive_4#Location_of_the_incident)
However if there needs to be further discussion, then here is a venue for it.

- Yay! I found a 2022 Georgia State Highway map which, in the same document (the school is labeled!), shows the school as being outside the Winder city limits!
- "General Highway Map Barrow County Georgia" (PDF). Georgia Department of Transportation. Retrieved 2024-09-24. - See map legends.

- This is original research.

- @TypistMonkey: Hi again! The map clearly labels the location of Apalachee High School and clearly labels the city limits of Winder. It directly states that the school is not in the Winder city limits. Wikipedia:No original research defines OR as: "material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published source exists." This map from the Georgia Department of Transportation is a reliable, published source making the statement that Apalachee High School is not in the Winder city limits. In the previous thread, there was a request for a source stating that, and here it is. Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 18:46, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

Major Addition detailing Gray's alleged abuse
[edit]Hello all. I've just made a significant number of additions to the article, using a Washington Post article that details abuse Gray allegedly suffered at the hands of both his parents. I've also added some additional details from said article containing information regarding Gray's actions before the shooting began. Using a gift link, so that anyone can read the article that I've cited, as I'd like some more experienced editors to look over my additions.
