Background

[edit]

Is it appropriate to insert the recent presidential elections as a context or is it just too speculative at this point? Borgenland (talk) 01:22, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No not really, imo, the backround section is to give context. Even if it's not directly related. The election has produced instability, so that affects the mindset through which many see the happenings and so on. Kennet.mattfolk (talk) 16:38, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to coup?

[edit]

Not sure how the template works, but proposing to rename this the 2023 Sierra Leonean coup attempt. Borgenland (talk) 00:48, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2023 Freetown attacks2023 Sierra Leonean coup attempt – Procedural nom per above. Queen of Hearts ❤️ (no relation) 02:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support. Sierra Leone even called it a coup attempt. Jebiguess (talk) 05:03, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support but suggest 2023 Sierra Leone coup attempt for consistency with 2023 Sierra Leone coup plot. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 12:52, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: while I consider 2023 Freetown attacks a valid name, I would be open to suggest 2023 Sierra Leone coup attempt because of what Chaotic Enby said. However, it appears the incident is ongoing, so depending on how long this incident lasts, either the suggested title should be kept under review, or the discussion time may need to be extended. --Minoa (talk) 21:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that there's still way too much ongoing and/or unknown to make an easy decision. Extending the discussion, or leaving it open to renomination whichever result ends up being chosen, would be a good idea. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 22:13, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Duration

[edit]

It appears that there has been no shooting since 28 November. Might as well close the duration at that point before anyone asks why this coup is taking ridiculously long. Borgenland (talk) 15:38, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
