2 meter high tide vs half meter wave

[edit]

With all the roundabout wording here, are we trying to skate around talking about 'unusually high tides' in general, sea level rise correlations. B137 (talk) 16:09, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request edit protection ASAP

[edit]

Can somebody who knows how to do so please change the edit protection on this ITN front page article to autoconfirmed users only, or issue a proper request for this, please, as IPs are repeatedly adding a picture of male genitals to the article (andmeanwhile I've twice failed to make a legitimate edit as a result). Admins - requesting semi-protection please -

[edit]

Pornographic vandalism has repeatedly hit the article in the past hour. 104.169.36.35 (talk) 19:09, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates

[edit]

Has the coordinates for this event been ascertained from Krakatoa? Or has it needed to be confirmed again before the coordinates can be entered into the article? Fikri RA (talk) 04:26, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 24 December 2018

[edit]

To add one of the crew members of the Seventeen (Indonesian band), drummer Windu Andi Darmawan who is still missing along with guitarist Herman Sikumbang (who was already dead) but speculated to have been killed during the tsunami. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1063099/Indonesia-tsunami-earthquake-krakatoa-seventeen-drummer-Andi-Windu-Darmawan 175.157.53.143 (talk) 05:15, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The page's protection level has changed since this request was placed. You should now be able to edit the page yourself. If you still seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 16:01, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Far afield?

[edit]

Thailand isn't that far afield, and "as far afield as" certainly is wrong in this case, since it doesn't mention what's actually far afield, with the deaths in Africa. Writing "as far afield as", one would expect the most distant major cases, not the nearby Thailand, or the midway Sri Lanka. This should be rewritten with "major casualties in Thailand and Sri Lanka, and damage as far afield as the east coast of Africa. (with a supporting ref for that) -- 67.70.34.69 (talk) 05:32, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

...why is that paragraph even there? The Indian Ocean Tsunami struck literally over a thousand miles away and had a completely different cause. Juxlos (talk) 07:24, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Landslide

[edit]

Should this article also include the landslide that caused the tsunami or should it have its own article? Volcanoguy 09:27, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
