GBR flags

[edit]

The reason why we use England and Scotland instead of United Kingdom is because the official website uses the TLA ENG and SCO instead of GBR. --Howard the Duck 15:55, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is used in the so-called official website is just the promoter's personal opinion. Those are just minor flags which aren't very recognized. People around are more familiar the Union Flag. 122.3.107.84 (talk) 06:42, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In movies, documentaries and stories about British, do you see flags like England or Scotland? No! It has always been this flag United Kingdom. We shouldn't settle for those other ones because they aren't famous. 122.3.107.84 (talk) 13:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In most sporting contexts, the Home Nations flags are used, the most notable exception is the Olympics. Nevertheless, since the organizers and the TV coverage used the home nations' TLAs instead of "GBR" or "UK", then we should abide by them. --Howard the Duck 14:52, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, these flags aren't minor, and there are several instances where the home nations send in separate teams, most notably in football (soccer). See the following:  England,  Scotland,  Wales and  Northern Ireland. --Howard the Duck 14:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
