Recent Revisions

[edit]

I took issue with a few recent revisions, and in the interest of avoiding a full-on edit war over this, I figured I'd bring up a few points:

  • Infobox
  • The "ended" category is strictly for podcasts that have ceased production. As this show is still being produced, it is preferred to leave that blank.
  • 1UP Yours is a gaming podcast, not a gaming journalism. It would only be considered a "gaming journalism" podcast if it strictly covered the subject of gaming journalism itself.
  • The podcast itself has no rating, since there is no universal podcast rating system. Plus, even if there WERE a rating system, I hardly think that this show would be considered suitable for "all ages".
  • History Section
  • There is a distinct, if somewhat subtle difference between a "podcast" and "internet radio". In this case, the show is pre-recorded and edited, whereas internet radio is live, streaming content.
  • The weekly outro is mostly unimportant and unnecessary in this article. Besides, the phrase is actually "Until next week, we're ghost", not "ghosts".
  • Discussion Section
  • 1UP Yours is a podcast predicated ENTIRELY on the discussion of games and the gaming subculture. However, there is no need to actually outline and recap these discussions within the article. It doesn't really have any encyclopedic merit, and to highlight the show's discussion angle is essentially to highlight the show itself, which is pretty much the goal of the article. But overall, these topics do not, in any way contribute to the overall makeup, structure, or history of the show itself, and therefore probably don't belong in the article.
  • I have MAJOR problems with the tone of this phrase: "The show has been know to bring realism and respect to gaming journalism. Frequent guest and commentary from insiders like Mark Rein, Ted Price, and Dennis Dyack have brought forth ideas that go further than the mind of an average gamer." Not only does it have some serious POV problems, but there is no quantitative way to measure it's "realism" or "respect".
  • Line-up Section
  • I have no earthly idea why anyone is removing Phillip Kohlar and John Davidson from the line-up. Not only have they been appearing frequently over the past month or so, but it has actually been stated on the show itself that they would be periodic guest-hosts.

Again, I'm just trying to make the article better. If you have any problems with any of these specific edits, please bring them up here instead of simply reverting my edits again. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 22:15, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Panel

[edit]

the show never really refers to having a line-up. In radio and news there is a panel comprised of individual's who contribute to the discussion as a whole. A line-up refers to a sports situation or a roster of sorts, that is why I am changing it back to Panel. Zaf263 (talk) 00:02, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. A Panel incinuates something formal and informative. The phrase "line-up" actually HAS been used to describe the show, and it can refer to a vast number of meanings, not just sports. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 00:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
