The article looks good, but it needs some work before I can pass it as a Good Article.

• Infobox:
• Unlink dates.
• Is the tsunami field really necessary?

Done.

• Background and tectonics:
• Link "significant earthquakes in the country" to List of earthquakes in Iran instead of "one".
• The first major earthquake in the region since 1979, the rupture was recorded... – Replace that sentence with something like "The 1997 Qayen earthquake was the first major earthquake in the region since 1979. The rupture was recorded..."
• Link M_w to Moment magnitude scale.
• This rupture occurred on – Replace "this" with "the".
• Link Eurasian Plate and Arabian Plate.
• Replace the hyphen between 12,000 and 20,000 with an endash.
• Same with 20 and 25.

Done.

• Relief efforts:
• "respond promptly and with generosity." – Move the full stop out of the quotation marks.
• Link Red Cross.

Done

• Other:
• Expand the lead a little with some information from the Relief efforts section.
• Spell out 2 and 5 in the Damage and casualties section.
