Cecille Lidel

[edit]

I was watching Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup finals and after the game one of the players mentioned a fan named Cecille Lidel (not sure if that's spelt correctly) "kicking" the ghosts out of MSG so they could win the Stanley Cup. I did a quick search on Google and found nothing, but it seemed like something notable. Any one have any information on this? BsroiaadnTalk 22:59, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The correct name is Ceil Saidel. Actor Tim Robbins recounted the Rangers' win with George Kalinsky in Garden of Dreams and mentioned it to him, as he was at the game. Saidel was brutally murdered in her apartment and was a lifelong Ranger fan. Robbins said in an essay for Garden of Dreams that her seat was left empty during Game 7 of the Finals. -- SNIyer12, (talk), 00:00, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Final

[edit]

In my personal opinion, the fact that the Finals in 1994 was notable because it was the last time a Canadien team was in the final until whatever year has nothing to do with the New York Rangers, it more belongs in the Finals section on the Vancouver Canucks season article. This is the Rangers article and I believe that the section should be deleted. Piemann16 (talk)

It should be. It only belongs on the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals page and the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals page. It is irrelevant to the Rangers season. - DJSasso (talk) 18:34, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The only reason why I add information about the 1994 Final marking the last time a Canadian team being in the Final until 2004 being relevant to the Rangers is because the Rangers win and 1994 was heavily mentioned about the absence of Canadian teams in the Final. Most hockey fans remember the 1994 Final for being the last Final Canadian teams would play in until 2004. - SNIyer12 (talk) 05:10, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to reduce multiple updates

To help avoid swamping editor watchlists, could editors updating this article please consider making a batch of changes in a sandbox, and then importing the whole set in one edit to this article? Thanks! isaacl (talk) 23:04, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Colour scheme

[edit]

Please do not make alterations to the colour scheme for any table headings or cells without first discussing and obtaining consensus agreement at the WikiProject Ice Hockey discussion page. There are legibility issues with using background and foreground colours with inadequate contrast, and a general approach has been agreed upon to avoid this problem. Thank you. isaacl (talk) 16:02, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Editing against consensus agreement

[edit]

Regarding these changes: your edits have not gained consensus for inclusion, as they have been reverted several times. Please refrain from simply re-including them, as this is a waste of your efforts, and discuss the matter further at WikiProject Ice Hockey's discussion page. Note this consensus covers all NHL team season pages. As you have been advised many times, if your edits are being reverted, it is better that you discuss them on the appropriate WikiProject discussion page (as another example, for baseball-related articles, at WT:BASEBALL), rather than trying to include the edits later on. isaacl (talk) 20:06, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

en-dash replacement

[edit]

Note there's really no need to replace the en-dash character with –. It's not a big deal, but it's a bit easier to read the wiki text when the en-character is used directly, especially in a table of data. Thanks. isaacl (talk) 04:34, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the opposite should be happening, HTML tags removed and the actual character used because it is much easier to read. HTML tags should only be used for things when absolutely necessary. So I agree with Isaacl. -DJSasso (talk) 18:14, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I understand there may be some who don't want to deal with typing the en-dash in, and the occasional use of the HTML character entity in prose doesn't bother me. Nor would I ask someone who already entered a whole table of data using the character entity to re-enter it (I think there's a bot or script that will do the conversion). But if you already entered the data using an en-dash, I don't see any reason to change it to the character entity. isaacl (talk) 00:36, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I agree, I was referring just to the changing of it from one to the other. -DJSasso (talk) 14:01, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps instead of disruptively abusing protected edit request templates, you could try to form a consensus on this talk page regarding the material you wish to add? The entire reason why this is locked is the fact that you have been adding material against multiple objections with no effort made to explain your reasoning. please change X to Y because of the game winning/tying goals scored by the players of each of the 1993-94 New York Rangers games: Pre season, Regular season, and 1994 Stanley Cup Playoffs needs edited. 24.239.48.123 (talk) 18:54, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing will ever get done until you specify exactly what you feel needs changing. "change x to y" is not going to cut it, and your repeated unnecessary edit requests are becoming disruptive. EXPLAIN what you want done and build a consensus for it. Resolute 19:26, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Media information

[edit]

Regarding this edit: In accordance with previous consensus, I have removed the tables from the "Media" section which would contain unnecessary, repetitive detail. In addition, rather than describe the general broadcast information in a collapsed table, I have placed it in prose. If anyone has any feedback, I appreciate it. If you feel a different format is desirable, please discuss it on this talk page. Thank you. isaacl (talk) 02:52, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this edit: please do not link multiple times in the same section to the same article; this is unnecessarily repetitive. Also, it is best to not use an abbreviation when referring to a league for the first time. It may be sufficient to describe the other teams' sports rather than the league, since the league can be determined by visiting the pages for the Knicks and the Jets, for those unaware. If there is no objection, I will make corresponding copy edits in accordance with Wikipedia's style guidelines. isaacl (talk) 04:45, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you see an edit that is obviously SNyler just let an admin know. He is block evading so he can just be reverted and blocked on sight. -DJSasso (talk) 15:58, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, in this case, I made the edit and it was disputed, so I sought feedback as someone has to start discussion, and based on history, it won't be the IP editor. isaacl (talk) 00:17, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
