[edit]

It needs at least a one sentence description of every storm to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 09:39, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I sort of did that! (RaNdOm26 17:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Nice. Now storm histories are needed for all of them for it to be B class. Hurricanehink (talk) 17:37, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Content and references are minimal, not to mention many SPAG (spelling and grammar) errors. I lowered it to high-importance, since there's no way it's among the most notable hurricane articles. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:48, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do think it should be raised back to top importance. YE Pacific Hurricane 18:28, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

18-E?

[edit]

Wasn't that the depression that Iniki formed from? Thus, in the article the section that says "Tropical Depression Eighteen-E" should be deleted. Source: here juan andrés 06:12, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed it was. It'd be redundant to have both it and Iniki in the article. --Coredesat 06:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TODO 2

[edit]

An important season must have a nice article. First of all, I removed 18-E, as it was the depression that later developed into hurricane Iniki. Then, the season summary must be more complete. Also, most of the storms are lacking of vital or even, any information and all inline sources must be cited. It is also important to replace those dead external links live and relevant ones. And finally, but not least, add the ACE chart with an explanatory and well written paragraph. This article really needs a lot of work. juan andrés 06:18, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Leave Message ,Yellow Evan home ,Sandbox Happy Veterans day 16:32, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tracks and Pics

[edit]

Is anyone ever going to add tracks for this season's depressions? (Two-E, Twelve-E, and Three-C) and are there pics of any of these systems? If so, It'd be great to add them. Hurricanekiller1994 (talk) 21:58, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ward

[edit]

Now that we have Ward, the season ties with the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, with 28 tropical cyclones formed (excluding depressions that never became storms). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.101.46.183 (talk) 03:04, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. YE Tropical Cyclone
Is Ward oficially considered a TC by CPHC while being east of the Dateline? ABC paulista (talk) 05:20, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Jason Rees: Why Ward should be mentioned here? Only JTWC considers that Ward formed east of the International Dateline, neither JMA nor CPHC counts it as a tropical cyclone before crossing into WPAC. And there are tons of storms that JTWC considers that formed in CPAC but aren't supported by CPHC and they aren't mentioned in their respective PHSs here. So, why it should be differnt for Ward? ABC paulista (talk) 16:55, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My view is quite simple we are here to mention all tropical cyclones even if they are unofficial or only monitored by one warning agency - it is after all one of the reasons why we have the other systems sections in the other Pacific basins.Jason Rees (talk) 17:01, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Jason Rees: But in almost all other Pacific Hurricane seasons we have other storms in the same situation of Ward (Typhoon Owen of 1990, Typhoon Dan of 1992, etc), but only Ward is mentioned. No other PHS article has a other systems section.ABC paulista (talk) 17:09, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Then be bold and add them in - They don't have to count towards the overall total or have the infobox.Jason Rees (talk) 17:32, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with including Ward, but why is there a level 2 header for the other storms section after a level 2 header for storms section. I think Ward should get a full-blown section unless you want to put TD's in the other storms section. YE Pacific Hurricane 17:56, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Yellow Evan: Why? Since TDs are now included on BT and receive full reports, and they are not as common as on other basins (WPAC and the Southern ones, for example), it wouldn't make sense to include them on that section. I think that other storms section should be created only to add unofficial TCs. And probably, I'll add at least one more TC to this article's other storms section (most certainly Typhoon Dan). ABC paulista (talk) 18:25, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ABC paulista: I didnt suggest adding NHC TD's to OS - YE did, however, looking at the ones in this season it may make sense too since there isn't a lot of information in their sections.Jason Rees (talk) 19:14, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, cited the wrong nick. I was supposed to ping @Yellow Evan:. ABC paulista (talk) 19:24, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, it's problematic since there are 2 level 2 headers, one for storms and one for other storms. Back then, FYI, TD's did not get TCR's, which is why I suggested putting them in an other storms section. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:12, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But now the TDs have reports, even the old ones. At least, the CPHC's ones. And all of them were included into HURDAT. ABC paulista (talk) 16:04, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@ABC paulista: No one is saying that every single tropical depression from every season, should go into the other storms/systems section. However, with the limited information we have on most of the tropical depressions for this season, it kind of makes sense to investigate lumping them in one section.Jason Rees (talk) 16:18, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think either "Other storm" needs an infobox. It makes the section longer than it should be. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:09, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in 1992 Pacific hurricane season

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 1992 Pacific hurricane season's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "JTWC BT":

  • From 1993 Pacific hurricane season: "bwp151993" (TXT). Joint Typhoon Warning Center. 1993. Retrieved November 29, 2015.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:54, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About the season summary track... the quality is low with JPEG

[edit]

From July 2017, please change the summary map into png. See: 2005 Pacific Hurricane Season. Because in 2016, i'm glad for this! Please, change now the summary map to JPEG into PNG. --FrancoLeymas (talk) 21:53, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing here that couldn't told in the season section. The impact to land was WP:ROUTINE and simply being the Xth storm isn't a qualifier for an article. Noah, AATalk 14:53, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article is extremely short because it did not cause any damages and deaths and can be included in the season article without needing to summarise. ZZZ'S 16:54, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose This storm, in my opinion had a remarkable meteorological history. It was the longest lived Pacific hurricane at the time and it is one of the few tropical cyclones on record in the Pacific to have lasted for 3 weeks. It was also a record breaking storm and the strongest hurricane of the extremely active 1992 Pacific hurricane season.
