European Parliament elections and Irish Republican Legitimism

[edit]

User:Spleodrach, please explain why are you so keen on removing any and all mention of the idea that European Parliamentary elections pre-Brexit weren't used as proxy elections for revolutionary Dáils by abstentionists, despite the fact they were held in the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland simultaneously. This is completely original research by you, totally unbacked by any reliable references. Spleodrach (talk) 17:41, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The source I cited clearly states that Sinn Fein decided to no contest the 1979 European Parliament elections (p. 239), that it later contested the 1984 European Parliament election on a non-abstentionist basis (p. 240), and that contesting European elections eventually led to Sinn Fein abandoning abstentionism (p. 239). Also, "the 1979 European Parliament election was the first 32-county election to be held in Ireland since 1921", "all European Parliament elections before Brexit were 32-county elections", "Irish republican legitimists do not consider the pre-Brexit European Parliament elections to have elected TDs of revolutionary Dáils.", and even that "32-county elections are a convenient opportunity to elect TDs to a revolutionary Dáil", are all verifiable statements per WP:NOR.
