- Hi @LunaEatsTuna you left this one unreviewed lol Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 01:50, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yeahh sorry, I will get to it in a bit! ❧ LunaEatsTuna (talk), proudly editing since 2018 (and just editing since 2017) – posted at 08:53, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @LunaEatsTuna Done! I did a quick google search for recent publications, the length of the mountain range varies; some authors say 1,500 km (Gürbüz & Saein, 2019) an the higher end of the range is 2,000 km (Sembroni et al, 2024; Leturmy & Robin, 2010). Given the complexity of the region, the mountain range extreme points are poorly defined. It may be out of this article's scope but to address the various figures, I've changed to "extends for more than 1,500 km".
- Regarding the point abt government stats, Persian sources are limited on this topic and I can't find anything online. Ambraseys' work could be considered authoritative at least when he doumented the damage and casualties.
- Thank you for reviewing my GANs and it's great to see you again! Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 12:51, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Good call on the wording of the mountain size. And Thanks! I took a wiki-gap-year to edit Wiktionary instead but felt like returning here to do some GA reviews! I bet I'll review more of your articles again soon. Keep editing, ❧ LunaEatsTuna (talk), proudly editing since 2018 (and just editing since 2017) – posted at 07:30, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

- Review
- Is is possible to figure out what time zone local time is in?
- Rephrase the first sentence of § Tectonic setting a bit: with its current wording, it makes it sound like the portion of the Zagros Mountains between Iran and Iraq is 1,500 km (930 mi). Also:
- I notice that the Wikipedia entry for the mountains state that it is 1,600 km long; is this perhaps a more recent/accurate number, considering the cited source in your article is from 1974?
- Wikilink strike-slip faulting.
- "while in the Iranian plateau, to the northeast" – replace the comma with a semicolon.
- § Historic seismicity could probably be a subsection in § Tectonic setting.
- "Ground cracks, possibly associated with tectonic origins was documented during a 1008 earthquake" > "Ground cracks, possibly associated with tectonic origins, were documented during a 1008 earthquake".
- "including a 21 December winter storm" > "including a winter storm on 21 December" – unlike years and months, full dates cannot really go before events or else it sounds kinda awkward.
- I notice it mentions how the government properties were constructed; I doubt is, but does there happen to be any stats on how many government structures were destroyed in comparison with the residential houses?
- "This earthquake was the largest since December 1957" – I would replace December 1957 with something that better identifies said earthquake was larger than this particular one (the 1957 Farsinaj earthquake), rather than just having the date.
- Spotchecks
Passes on refs 1, 5 and 7.
