– There are other football teams representing Akron and Dayton for these years. Fbdave (talk) 20:09, 14 October 2020 (UTC) —Relisting. BegbertBiggs (talk) 21:16, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral there are may other cases where this meets current naming schema 1900 Georgia Tech football team, and 1900 Washington football team (I chose that example purposely) and not 2014 University of North Dakota football team. I really don't care but WP:CFB needs to (further) standardize this.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 22:04, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support. While we typically do not include "university" or "college" in the titles of college football season articles, it's prudent to do so where it is appropriate for disambiguation purposes. Cbl62 (talk) 22:37, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- The need for disambiguation is typically limited to years before nicknames were adopted. Other examples where we make such variations include 1892-1919 University of Utah football teams, 1902-1904 University of New Mexico football teams, 1896-1910 Detroit College Tigers football teams, 1918-1921 Detroit Junior College football teams. Cbl62 (talk) 22:48, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- Comment There are two unexplained assertions re WP:Disambiguation. So a determination around WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is necessary. Article movement is premature without that discussion. Or, a determination should be made that the current/presumed WP:COMMONNAME is incorrect. UW Dawgs (talk) 16:39, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:CONCISE. There are no other articles on football team seasons that require this level of natural disambiguation. Rreagan007 (talk) 17:51, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Rreagan007: The Akron Pros played professionally from 1908 to 1926, so "1913 Akron football team" may refer to the college team or pro team, and disambiguation is needed. Similarly, the professional Dayton Triangles played from 1916 to 1929. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:11, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Comment What is the WP:COMMONNAME for one of these teams? Fbdave (talk) 23:47, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Fbdave: Looks like the collegiate Akron football team was just called "Akron U" in 1925 by newspapers, until they changed their name to the Zippers in 1926. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:11, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Support to disambiguate from the professional football teams based in Akron and Dayton for those years, see: 1913 Akron Indians season, 1914 Akron Indians season, 1915 Akron Indians season, 1919 Akron Indians season, 1920 Akron Pros season, 1921 Akron Pros season, 1922 Akron Pros season, 1923 Akron Pros season, 1924 Akron Pros season, 1925 Akron Pros season, 1926 Akron Indians season, 1920 Dayton Triangles season, 1921 Dayton Triangles season, and 1922 Dayton Triangles season. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:11, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- To add, 1926 Akron football team should be moved to 1926 Akron Zippers football team, since it appears they adopted a team name by then: [1], [2], etc. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:17, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Agree with Eagles247 re 1926 per sourcing presented. Nice catch. Cbl62 (talk) 22:47, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom and arguments above. It is better in this instance to have unambiguous titles. BD2412 T 05:43, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
