Combat service
[edit]I think this might be doing the mortars a disservice, in that the problems with counterbattery were spotting and fuzes, not the emplacements or the guns. The forts were generally armed with rounds inteded to hit armored ships, which buried themselves deeply enough before exploding that damage was limited. Anmccaff (talk) 04:13, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
