Category:Nigerian films

[edit]

The Category:Nigerian films is a parent category which should only contain Sub-categories not pages to avoid becoming too large it is usually advised that pages be moved into their specific sub-categories under the Nigerian films Category. There is even a mainteance template there to inform editors. By adding Category:Nigerian films you are overcategorizing the article since its already in Sub-categories under Category:Nigerian films. @Stanleytux: I concur with your statements. Every page in that category should be move into sub categories. By the way, thank you for your work on Categories in general. versace1608 (talk) 22:07, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Versace1608: I'm glad you got the point of what I'm saying. Categories does a great job in helping to define articles but doesn't mean it should be abused, sometimes we make mistakes during categorization but it's something vital that needs to be watched to avoid bias. Stanleytux (talk) 22:23, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Stanleytux: Nigerian films is a parent category, and it should be removed if there is a direct subcategory serving the same purpose. For example: Nigerian epic films, Nigerian drama films etc....Such doesn't exist in this article. If you removed the Nigerian films category, you just removed one of the most important and relevant categories on the page. You can check other movie articles and see the categories that are used in replacing the parent category of the country of origin.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:31, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamie Tubers: Good thing you understand that those pages need appropriate sub-categorization. I'm already working on more sub categories like genres where the rest of the pages will fit in. Stanleytux (talk) 22:48, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Stanleytux: BTW, I just went through the WikiProject film policies over again and it is explicitly stated that a category indicating the country of origin of a film shouldn't be removed under any circumstance....even after grouping the article into direct subcategories. I tried to check various film articles and I observed it's obeyed.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 18:09, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Then you seem not to understand the purpose of these categories, as I see you just removing relevant categories indiscriminately. For example; you shouldn't remove 2010s action films, just because you included Nigerian action films. The Nigerian action films doesn't provide the same meaning, cos it doesn't indicate the year. Same with action films and Nigerian action films (the only direct subcategory to that would be the one indicating the year or range of year. ie, if there is 2011 action films, then action films category must be removed). Nigerian action films is not a direct subcategory for neither 2010s action films nor action films, just an associate subcategory. Try to go through film articles (especially Good and featured articles and see how they are categorized. Regards.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 19:29, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: I agreed with Tux's statements only because of the blue banner that was placed at the top of the category page. I am just clearing the air on that. versace1608 (talk) 22:08, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Dewa's Dismissal

[edit]

I do not think Joseph Dewa should have been dismissed in the movie '76. What do you think? 129.205.112.252 (talk) 09:09, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
