"SMB" on YouTube |
"SMB" is a collaboration single written and performed by singer and rapper Odetari & Ateez member Hongjoong, released on January 15, 2025.[1][2][3][4][5] The song garnered mass popularity throughout TikTok and other social media.
Background
[edit]"SMB" marks Odetari's first collaboration with Hongjoong of K-pop group ATEEZ, exploring themes of success and superiority over others. It was initially teased featuring a scrapped intro sampling Ice Cube's "No Vaseline" on April 9, 2024, likely removed due to copyright concerns.[citation needed]
More snippets of "SMB" were shared throughout late 2024, alongside the snippets for the songs "PULSAR WISH" and "CARE BEAR", allowing fans to vote on which track Odetari should release next, later scrapped due to Hongjoong's feature, which was officially confirmed on January 7, 2025.[6]
Hoonjoong's first verse was interpreted as a diss towards Hybe Corporation, who manages BTS.[1][7]
