- March 1991: Capcom released the highly successful Street Fighter II for arcades.
- 2005-03-02: The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) added the "E10+" rating to its ratings system. E10+ was created in order to divide E ratings for younger and older children.
- 2000-03-04: The Sony PlayStation 2 is released in Japan and becomes the fastest-selling video game console, selling 98,000 units in 4 hours (an average of 7 units sold per second).
- 1982-03-10: Midway Manufacturing wins Midway Manufacturing Co. v. Artic International, Inc.
- 1973-03-19: Konami Industry Co., Ltd is incorporated as an arcade manufacturer.
- 1971-03-22: Ralph Baer filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a patent for a "television gaming and training apparatus".
