[edit]- 1869 – After the New York and Erie Railroad moves its primary shop facilities from Dunkirk, New York, to Buffalo, Horatio G. Brooks leases the facilities in Dunkirk and opens Brooks Locomotive Works.
20th century
[edit]- 1934 – Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad inaugurates regular passenger service between Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Missouri, using the Pioneer Zephyr trainset.
- 1940 – Syracuse Transit Corporation closes the Elm Street line in Syracuse, New York.
- 1943 – Shin-Koyasu Station on what is now JR East's Keihin-Tōhoku Line in Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama, Japan, is opened.
- 1997 – The extension of Minsk Metro's Avtozavodskaya Line connecting Traktornyi Zavod to Avtozavodskaya opens.
- 2000 – A faulty heater aboard a funicular train in Kaprun, Austria, starts a fire in the train's brake fluid while the train is in a tunnel; none of the train's 155 passengers survived the fire in the Kaprun disaster.
21st century
