[edit]- 1895 – The New Haven and Hartford Railroad begins the first regular passenger service in the United States powered by electricity.
20th century
[edit]- 1918 – The Soviet government publishes a decree nationalizing all major Russian railways.
- 1924 – The streetcar system in Adrian, Michigan, is abandoned.
- 1930 – The Schleizer Kleinbahn opens for traffic using electric traction on its line between Schleiz and Saalburg in Thuringia.
- 1963 – The Philadelphia and Reading Railroad's King Coal passenger train makes its final run to Shamokin, Pennsylvania.
- 1996 – Amtrak discontinues the Loop passenger train connecting Chicago and Springfield, Illinois.
21st century
