[edit]- 1853 – The Cincinnati, Cambridge and Chicago Short Line Railway, a predecessor of Pennsylvania Railroad, is incorporated in Indiana to build from New Castle southeast via Cambridge to the Ohio state line.
- 1886 – The North Hudson County Railway in New Jersey opens the first elevated cable railway in the United States, the Hoboken Elevated.[1]
20th century
[edit]- 1906 – New Haven Railroad acquires control of Hartford, Manchester and Rockville Tramway and Stafford Springs Street Railway.[2]
- 1999 – The New York City Transit Authority installs the first MetroCard Vending Machines at two subway stations in the city.[3]
