[edit]- 1870 – Construction on the Kansas Pacific Railroad, building westward from Kansas, reaches Denver, Colorado.
- 1900 – Regular service begins between Skagway, Alaska, and Whitehorse, Yukon, on the White Pass and Yukon Route.
20th century
[edit]- 1904 – The Grand Trunk Railway and Canadian Atlantic Railway sign an agreement that will place the Canadian Atlantic under Grand Trunk's control.
- 1934 – Shimotsuke-Hanaoka Station on what has become the JR East Karasuyama Line in Takanezawa, Tochigi, Japan, is opened.[1]
- 1940 – Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft's prices now apply to Alsace–Lorraine, annexed by Germany.
- 1984 – The first empty revenue Chicago and North Western Railway coal train enters the Powder River Basin to pick up a trainload of coal; the first consignment is destined for Arkansas Power and Light.[2]
