Lamane Jegan Joof (English spelling in the Gambia, or Lamane Djigan Diouf - French spelling in Senegal) was a Serer lamane, who according to Serer tradition founded Tukar now part of present-day Senegal. The Raan religious festival takes place each year at Tukar, two weeks after the appearance of the new moon in April. He is an early ancestor of the Joof family. Himself a member of the lamanic class and originally from Lamabaye.
