Q 54.06
Connect Tabu, Srinivasa Ramanujan and Ethylene. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 10:24, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Tabu an episode of Numbers that uses mathematical concepts of Tabu search and features Amita Ramanujan, fictional character with last name directly based on Srinivasa Ramanujan. Ethylene has π-bond and Ramanujan had given various formulae to calculate accurate value of π. Now, is there a single connect for the 3... In that case I have to search further (maybe a Tabu search is required). VasuVR (talk, contribs) 11:11, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

- Thanks for welcoming me but I've been here before. I was the winner of Round 48 (along with Dwaipayan). It's a different matter that I don't have a barnstar to show for it. As it turns out Su hit, who has given Dwaipayan close to 10 barnstars by now, didn't bother to give me a single one... Just saying. :P

Q 54.13
Should be an easy one, connect the following terms: northernmost, southernmost and Prime Minister. Amitrochates (talk) 04:25, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- Narendra Modi spent his life in Himalayas (northernmost) and inspired by Swami Vivekananda (Kanyakumari, southernmost). --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 06:33, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the barnstar![4] :) That was a good answer but not what I was looking for. Let me expand the terms a bit: northernmost extent, southernmost extent and a Prime Minister (not necessarily the current one). Amitrochates (talk) 06:45, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Clarification request - Nicobar islands being southern most? Or would it be any other "presence" further south? VasuVR (talk, contribs) 16:39, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- That would be it, no further. Amitrochates (talk) 19:09, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Former PM Manmohan Sigh is the only Indian PM to visit northernmost extent (Siachen) and southernmost extent (Nicobar) of India. :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 20:57, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- That is another good answer, but still not on target. By Southernmost and Northernmost extent I mean the geographical points which define the territory under Indian control. And it has something to do with how they were named (or are thought to have been named). Amitrochates (talk) 21:29, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Identify the Indian astronomer who predicted the existence of a planet, its distance from the sun and its orbital period fairly accurately almost 20 years before its discovery. The calculations used to arrive at the prediction are still a mystery. The astronomer also predicted existence of another planet which has so far not been discovered and is the stuff of many conspiracy theories. Amitrochates (talk) 04:24, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Started in India in 1850's and during peak business days daily 600,000 teleghram were sent with 45,000 operating offices and more than 50,000 direct staff, but now only 75 offices were left. :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 05:35, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Q 54.17
Make a connection. (a) Amitabh prefers it, (b) Tulsidas used it, (c) Ganga Jumna showed, (d) God Hanuman. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 12:39, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- One obvious guess is Hanuman Chalisa. Amitabh prefers it[6] and there is a legend about Tulsidas reciting it during imprisonment. I haven't watch Ganga Jumna to know whether any connection exists to it. Amitrochates (talk) 21:11, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Very good. Amitrochates. The answer is somewhat similar, but not this one. It's about a language. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 09:29, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Then it must be Awadhi language. Ramcharitmanas and Hanuman Chalisa are written in Awadhi. Ganga Jumna was inspired by the language and Amitabh has used Awadhi in many songs featuring him. Is it Su_hit? :) Amitrochates (talk) 10:22, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

This unsung hero was nicknamed after an animal which is revered in South Indian temples. He lost his toes to a medical condition. Amitrochates (talk) 01:13, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Identify X and Y.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:24, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- X = Mir, Y = Pir, the weapon is the Sikh Khanda and the philosophy is meeri–peeri. If I turn out to be right, it was a pretty interesting and fun question. If not then the question is way too complicated. Amitrochates (talk) 16:38, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Q 54.20
According to legend, a person X won many battles. A person Y from the losing side became his servant in order to learn his "tricks". Thereafter, Y challenged X to a fight and defeated him. X became a subordinate of Y, but was thrown off a tower, in a famous University in Ancient India, for not "mending his ways". X survived the fall and continued to win many more battles. He eventually committed suicide by burning himself to death. Who are X and Y? Amitrochates (talk) 11:26, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Q 54.21
Person X discarded a symbol of his religion after entering a particular institution. A regional entrepreneur Y partially sponsored the travel and education in abroad of X. The person X later changed his religion to Christianity, and added the last name of one of his teachers to his own name. This conversion was even reported in a noted professional journal. X went on to achieve success in his profession. Who were X and Y?--Dwaipayan (talk) 02:08, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

- Answer X- JAGDISH TYTLER. Y - James douglas tytler (Founder of DPS schoolUmesah86 (talk) 05:49, 14 March 2015 (UTC))
- Well, I did not have this answer in mind. However, Jagdish Tytler fits the bill almost perfectly! A few clues that I gave in the question (travelling and education abroad etc) do not exactly match, but those are minor ones. I will accept this as an appropriate answer. Umeshah may ask the next question.
- If no one is asking a question shortly, y'all can continue with this question as the next question and try to find out the person I originally set the question about! Thanks, --Dwaipayan (talk) 14:06, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Q 54.22
Ok, I am re-phrasing the previous question slightly, and posting it as the next question (Umeshah is the correct answerer for question 21):
Person X discarded a symbol of his religion after entering a particular professional institution. A regional entrepreneur Y partially sponsored the travel and education in abroad of X. The person X later changed his religion to Christianity, and added the last name of one of his teachers (Z) to his own name. This conversion was even reported in a medical journal. Who were X, Y and Z?--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:41, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- X = Soorjo Coomar Goodeve Chuckerbutty, first graduate in medicine. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 04:18, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Y = Dwarkanath Tagore, Z = Professor Goodeve. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 04:29, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Su_hit this is a pretty amazing feat. It wasn't the easiest of questions to answer. The Wikipedia article on Soorjo Coomar Goodeve Chuckerbutty is a stub and the PubMed search engine isn't very useful. Sometimes one knows the answer or at least where to look for it, but if that was the case with you here, you wouldn't have asked for a hint twice. I have to assume you were willing to go through articles on Indian doctors (with somehwat longer names) and read through the references such as this one. This is, in cricket terminology, a six to win the match. Well done! Amitrochates (talk) 14:01, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Correct, Suhit. Your turn.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:21, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Q 54.23
In the the season of relaunching or making the sequence of the question, let me also try.
- Identify: (a) a name or form of God, (b) renowned Indian freedom fighter, (c) famous music director. (The answer is not Rahman) --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 07:22, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Jatin is a name for Shiva (One who has matted hair), Jatindra Nath Das or simply Jatin Das is a renowned Indian freedom fighter and Jatin of Jatin–Lalit is a famous music director. I hope this is it because this question doesn't have a unique solution. For instance, Mithun is a name for Krishna, Mithoon is a famous music director and Mithun Chakraborty is a renowned Indian freedom fighter who has fought for freedom from meaningful and sensible cinema. Amitrochates (talk) 08:25, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed. Amitrochates. It was non-unique question, interestingly second time too. You get the point and turn. --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 10:06, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'll take the point for the Mithun answer. Amitrochates (talk) 19:17, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Q 54.24
Connect the following: a mountain peak in Pakistan, monarchy of Nepal, a fitness movement in the West with eastern roots and a regiment in the Indian Army. Amitrochates (talk) 19:32, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Gurkha or Gorkha --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 04:05, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- That is in the right direction, but it connects only two of the phrases. Hint 1: The fitness movement is yoga and a prophecy related to the royal household of Nepal matters. Amitrochates (talk) 05:41, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- Gorakshanath; he wrote the first book on Laya yoga-(a form of yoga), Gurkha are influenced by his name, Tilla Jogian in pakistan, after Gorkha Kingdom, the modern kingdom of Nepal's founder the Prithvi Narayan Shah's Grim prophecy is linked to Gorakshanath. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 10:22, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

- Darul Uloom Deoband --Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 11:24, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- Smart guess but not exactly right. It was an event/movement. :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 12:21, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- The connection is a series of attempts to lead an armed insurrection against the British. It began with the establishment of Samratut Tarbiyat, in 1877, by Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmoodul Hasan who reorganised it into Jamiatul Ansaar in 1909, which was rechristened Nazzaaratul Ma’arif in 1913 after a ban on Jamiatul Ansaar. To garner support for the rebeliion and weaponry Shaikhul Hind visited Makkah to meet the Turkish Governor. After destruction of the Usmani caliphate however, Maulana Obaidullah Sindhi and Maulana Barkatullah Bhopali had to form the first Government of India in exile in Kabul with Maharaja Pratap Singh as the president. The whole thing culminated in a blunder now known as the Silk Letter Conspiracy. The movement however formed the basis of the Khilafat Movement. Amitrochates (talk) 12:52, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
