• 1899 - Princess Kaʻiulani, the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi who pleaded before Congress for the restoration of her country's sovereignty after the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, dies on Oʻahu at the age of 23.

March 7

• 1847 - The Great Mahele, a decree by Kamehameha III that abolished the existing semi-feudal system of land ownership, is signed.

March 18

• 1874 - Hawaiʻi signs an exclusive trade agreement with the United States.

March 26

• 1871 - Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole, crown prince during the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, is born. He would later go on to serve in the United States Congress and create the Hawaiian Homelands system. His birthday is celebrated as Prince Kūhiō Day in Hawaiʻi.
