Simon Brea, a Puerto Rican-Dominican-American YouTuber, was hacked in the Dominican Republic. On September 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. UTC−4. Simon Brea had a business Gmail account, since he wanted to be sponsored. He clicked on a malicious link, which caused the person who gave that link to get access to his account. The first sign was that Simon has been typing his password, but it said incorrect, or it got changed. So Simon went ahead and used a second account, and looked at his "channel" that was renamed to MicroStrategy. When he finally got his account recovered, he explained everything that happened.
Recovering channel process
[edit]Simon Brea tried contacting the IC3, which is the internet FBI, next, he searched up on Google, "YouTube account hacked", the first thing that popped up was Google Help's recover hacked YT channel option powered by AI, he got all the step-by-step guide on how to recover his hacked channel, including, sending a case to the YouTube Support Team. They said that in 24 hours, they would email him with the next steps. Whenever he got emailed the next steps, he followed those steps, and they told him once he did that, his claim would be created because Simon Brea had to create a claim for it to be reviewed. Within another 30 minutes, they told him that his claim was approved, and they told him to log in with his recovery email, so that allowed him to create a new password for protection on his Gmail account. His Gmail account was connected to his YouTube, and he successfully got his channel back. He got rid of the person that hacked him, then he put his profile picture back, and his banner back. His videos were still there but they were private so he made them public.
