March 30 Movement

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The March 30 Movement (30-3[1]), notable for its legal branch the Hind Rajab Foundation,[2][3] is a Belgian political activist group that has filed multiple lawsuits against people who served in the Israeli military during the Israel-Gaza War.[4][1][5] The group is headed by Dyab Abou Jahjah,[6] its lawyer is Haroon Raza.[4][7]

History

[edit]

Since the Israeli invasion of Gaza in October 2023, the March 30 Movement has filed about a dozen lawsuits against European soldiers who served in the Israeli military.[8] According to the organization's lawyer Haroon Raza, the group's goal is "to have everyone who is directly or indirectly responsible for war crimes and genocide in Gaza prosecuted and eventually behind bars".[4]

After Israeli president Isaac Herzog announced in March 2024 that he intended to visit the Netherlands, Raza urged Dutch legal authorities to arrest Herzog for his role in the military conflict in Gaza.[5][9][6]

The movement's legal foundation, named in commemoration of the killing of Hind Rajab, filed a case against Israeli Defense Forces soldier and Nova festival massacre survivor,[10] Yuval Vagdani in January 2025. Videos obtained by the foundation allegedly show Vagdani participating in destruction of Gaza civilian property. Lawyer Maira Pinheiro brought forth the case in Brazil, where Vagdani was vacationing. After the case was pursued, the Israeli Foreign Ministry was accused of helping Vagdani flee to Argentina.[11][12] The Israeli embassy in Brazil denied this allegation.[13]
