Your suggestions aren't working

[edit]

I just found out from another user that my signatures no longer have links. The same person introduced me to this page, and this was the first thing I read

If your signature is not working now (but was working previously), you will need to make some changes to your "my preferences" page.

The trouble is, I can't do anything in the my preferences page anymore. Also I started using the "Signature and timestamp" button in the toolbar, and it stopped working tonight. ----DanTD 01:31, 7 September 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanTD (talkcontribs) 01:31, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help Please

[edit]

I've been trying to get my signature ( Brakkis ) to appear with the Abaddon font, but I can't get it to work for some reason. Can anyone help me out? --Brakkis (talk) 22:59, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My signature breaks some templates

[edit]

My signature, which I mainly use on websites in the Wikia system, is as follows:

<font color="000999">Schiffy</font> (<font color="FF6600">Speak to me</font>|<font color="FF0000">What I've done</font>)

Apparently, the vertical line ( | ) between the links to my talk page and my contributions page breaks some templates, because it's used not as part of a link, but rather just as an individual character. It was suggested I go into my preferences and change that vertical line to , which I did, but when saving my preferences, it is automatically changed to , which still breaks the templates. Unless I go in and manually copy and paste my signature with the in it, the signature messes up something. Is there a way to fix this in my preferences page so I can still use the ~~~~ without breaking any kinds of templates? Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 17:27, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can try the HTML replacement for the pipe "&#124;"
I hope you can get it working with that

I unfortunately have not used that before. I just need some help with the syntax in that regard. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 17:44, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
you simply have to delete the pipe and add in the HTML replancement "&#124;" (without the "").

Well, when I try that, "&#124;" is showing up in my signature, and is not replaced by anything. This is the current status of said sig. Schiffy (Speak to me&#124;What I've done) 19:07, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
are you really using the & sign and NOT its HTML replacement "&amp"???
Regards, My1 19:10, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm using it with the "amp;" added after the actual ampersand, followed by a "#124;" If I try just the ampersand followed by a "#124;", I get a warning saying my signature has an error. Schiffy (Speak to me&#124;What I've done) 20:14, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Your signature here has: ampersand, a, m, p, semicolon, hash sign, one, two, four, semicolon. What's wanted is: ampersand, hash sign, one, two, four, semicolon. This should display as | -- John of Reading (talk) 20:45, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

but he already said that with the & only that there ia an error

My1 20:58, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Now it's working, for some reason, actually. I don't know if the trouble was on my end or Wikia's end, but no matter, it works. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 21:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Only 256 characters?!!!

[edit]

Goddamn please make it longer. I can't even place links to talk page. It is quickly runs out of available space.
It is really frustrating. DAVRONOVA.A. 21:42, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
