Summary

Description
English: Joined satellite imagery of Garyville and Reserve, Lousiana. The Marathon Petroleum oil refinery visible in the middle. This is part of a stretch of the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge that is known as "Cancer Alley" because its residence face a cancer risk seven times the national average. More than 200 polluting petrochemical plants, including the refinery in Garyville, have been built along the river here. The satellite imagery comes from the 2022 NOAA National Geodetic Survey DSS 4-Band 8 Bit Imagery: New Orleans, LA dataset. Multiple photos have been stitched together and the image has been rotated to remove black spaces.
