The first season of the American animated television series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Marvel Comics featuring the character Spider-Man , sees Peter Parker 's origin story and early days as Spider-Man , and is set in an alternate timeline where Norman Osborn becomes Parker's mentor instead of Tony Stark . It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and television series of the franchise . The season was produced by Marvel Studios , via its Marvel Studios Animation label, with Jeff Trammell serving as head writer and Mel Zwyer as supervising director .
