Yelena Olshansky, an American inventor.[1] and Holocaust survivor[2]was born 4/12/1928 in Leningrad(Soviet Union). In early 20th her parents, Ephim Kogan and Tatiana Bulgakov, moved from the White Russia (Belarus) to the Leningrad.They had established themselves in Vasilyevsky Island, and later in Griboyedov Canal in the house which belonged to the Russian Museum , where her father began his carrier as one of the Curators. There she passed her childhood and attend the school. Her family lost many of their relatives during the World War II. Yelena is a survivor of the siege of Leningrad by German army. In 1979, Yelena immigrated to the United States where in 2019 she was awarded US patent for the invention of the half-corset. She is presently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey

Biography

Yelena Olshansky (Yelena Efimovna Olshansky) an inventor[3], author [4] Holocaust surviver[5], was born in Leningrad[6] (Soviet Union) 04.12.1928. After Graduation from the Baku Music College as a choir director and teacher of music theory, she continue her teaching carrier at Pushkin[7] Musical School in Leningrad. In 1979 she emigrated to the USA. Presently Yelena lives in Jersey City, N.J.

Yelena passed her childhood and youth in Leningrad, where she graduated from the high school. She is a surviver of Siege of Leningrad[8] In 1945, after the end of WWII[9] Yelena had married Moisei Olshansky, a young officer, of the Air force[10].In 1947, was born her first child Vladimir Olshansky an actor-clown[11] and author[12] . In 1952 was born her second son Yury Olshansky, award winning actor[13] and author[14] In Baku Yelena graduated from the Musical College, as the choir conductor and the teacher of a music theory. In 1963 she divorced and returned to Leningrad. She continue her carrier as the music and musical theory teacher at the Pushkin [15] Leningrad musical school.

Support of Leningrad’s non-conformist artist movement

In 1977 Yelena begun to actively support the Leningrad's non-conformist artists movement[16] and organized in December of 1977 one of the Leningrad’s non-conformist exhibition in her apartment on the Halturina street 19. During the exhibition Yelena befriended many artists, like Anatoly Maslov[17], Viktor Volodin[18], Nikolaj Lyubushkin[19] who had participated in the exhibition, poet and critic Konstantin Kuzminsky[20], Valerij Valran[21]. Among the invited visitors, there are have been foreign diplomats who served in Leningrad. Particularly, Yelena befriended the General US Consul Mr.Thompson R. Buchanan[22] and his wife Nancy, French General Consul Mr. Philippe Legrain [23] and French Cultural Attaché Mr. Mark Finaud[24]. During the exhibition Yelena’s apartment have been under the constant surveillance of the KGB. Eventually Yelena became a prominent supporter of the non-conformist movement, which opposed official Soviet art.

Immigration to the US

In 1979, Yelena immigrated to the United States and had to abundant her musical profession. She entered New York Financial Institute[25], and after the graduation become a book-keeper, at Lord and Taylor Department Store[26] at the department of bill’s processing. She worked there for fifteen years, before to go on pension.

US patent

In 2019 Yelena was awarded a US patent [27]for the invention of the Half Corset (shape-ware). Presently Yelena lives in Jersey City, NJ. US.
