Yang Soon-Yeal, born in 1959 in South Korea, is a renowned multimedia artist whose work includes traditional painting, sculpture, and other genres. Initially trained in traditional Korean painting at Hyosung Women's University. She has developed a profound connection with nature, which serves as a recurring theme in her art.
Soon-Yeal's portfolio includes vibrant and dynamic pieces that explore themes of motherhood and a deep poetic sympathy for existence, nature, and objects. Her distinctive approach to abstraction bridges the figurative and the abstract, blending colorful and grey tones in a way that dissolves the boundaries between reality and imagination. This invites viewers to reflect and introspect on the relationship between humans, the environment, and all living things.
Through her art, Soon-Yeal seeks to address the crises of our era by fostering spiritual connections between humans, objects, and nature. Her work aims to resolve the perceived separation between humans and non-humans, advocating for coexistence and cooperation among all life forms on Earth. She explores these themes through "expanded motherhood," a concept that underpins her lifelong dedication to fostering harmony with the world around her.
Exhibiting internationally in both private and public spaces, Yang Soon-Yeal has garnered numerous accolades for her innovative and thought-provoking art, which continues to inspire and resonate with audiences worldwide.
