Strange Experiences is a 1955 to 1962 British Fantasy, Horror TV series starring Peter Williams as a Storyteller who talks about the Strange things that have happened during his life.[1][2]
Plot
[edit]A Storyteller talks about the strange events that happened during his daily life routine such as uncanny, supernatural or otherwise "strange" goings-on happening across the whole country of England.
Cast
[edit]Peter Williams played the role of the main character The Storyteller who would talk about Strange Experiences he had been involved in. The series also starred Peter Sallis. Peter Sallis appeared in 3 episodes of the series and in each episode he played a different character in each of them such as Squishy Taylor a criminal in the episode "Safe and Sound", Chippy Criggs a pickpocketer in the episode "The Pickpocket" and a gambler in the episode "The Inveterate Gambler". Peter Sallis was in fact the only guest star actor to appear in more than 1 episode of the series. The series also featured performances from other guests star actors such as Theodore Bikel, John Wood, Elspet Gray, Josephine Griffin, Arthur Howard and many more.
Production
[edit]Before the series premiered two of the episodes from the series were shown in the 1955 TV movie/TV play Fcb TV Show No.1. The episodes "Safe and Sound" and "The Knife Thrower" were shown in the TV movie/TV play to give some idea of how an evening's viewing might appear on the forthcoming I.T.A. channel in London. Both of the episodes where eventually given a separate release on television by themselves for the series Strange Experiences.[3]
Episodes
[edit]The series had a total of 29 episodes that aired on television from 1955 to 1962. All of the episodes of this series are all intact and are all available to watch on TV Brain.[4] Some of the episodes are also available to watch at the British Film Institute. Some of the episodes can also easily be found on YouTube as well.
DVD Release
[edit]The only episodes that have been released on DVD or Blu Ray are the episodes "Grandpa's Portrait" and "Old Silas" which where included on a British Film Institute DVD and Blu Ray titled Short Sharp Shocks Volume 3.[5][6]
