Sonia McDonald (born in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand) is an Australian business leader, entrepreneur, advisor, keynote speaker, and author.[1][2]

She is known for the creation of the LeadershipHQ Outstanding Leadership Awards through her business LeadershipHQ, in 2019. The awards recognize leaders who promote kind and courageous leadership in the endeavor to reshape workplace culture.[3]

Life and Work

Sonia moved to Australia at a young age and was raised on the Gold Coast, Queensland. She graduated from Griffith University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Human Resources and sub-majoring in Psychology at the University of Queensland.

She has authored three books based on her background in neuroscience and leadership architecture including Just Rock It! (2017), First Comes Courage (2020), and Leadership Attitude (2022).[4]

Sonia has been recognized as one of the Top 250 Female Leaders globally by Richtopia in 2016 and named in the Top 100 Australian Entrepreneurs in 2018.[5] Her international work has included roles with Korn Ferry in the UK and APAC regions.

She is a regular writer and contributor to business publications and media, on the topics of workplace culture and leadership.[6][7][8]
