Shahar Cohen (in Hebrew שחר כהן; Jerusalem, 18 April 1990.) is an Israeli comedian and social media influencer.

Cohen was born in Jerusalem from fully Israeli parents, his mother is Hanita Cohen Kimhi, a poet and his father is Ilan, a bank employee.

Career

Cohen's career started in 2022 when he began gaining popularity on TikTok with his “Then vs Now” videos. At the beginning of 2023, he started to become well known for his “America vs. Israel” videos, which highlight cultural differences between Americans and Israelis. These videos resonated particularly well with audiences in the United States, significantly growing his following. During the October 2023 war in Israel, Shahar produced videos with a comedic angle, which explained Israel's side of the conflict while uniting and entertaining the Jewish community in America.

This effort doubled his American audience, and he gained widespread recognition for his ability to mix humor with poignant commentary on current events. Shahar's most notable character is Nofar, a typical Israeli girl with a heavy accent, a lot of confidence, living in her own world, and believing she speaks good English. This character, along with his other content, often draws on cultural contrasts for comedic effect, Nofar is famous for the word "החיים שלי" (my life)

Due to high demand from his growing American audience, Shahar has performed in Canada and is in the process of obtaining an O-1 artist visa to perform in the United States. His shows have included performances in Montreal, Toronto, and Tel Aviv, and he has plans to continue performing in the U.S. over the next three years.
