History

[edit]

Formation and Early Years (2023)

[edit]

Sølace was formed in 2023 when Anthony Huey, who had been writing songs independently, met Josh Michel and Ben Radka. The trio formed a band, with Huey on vocals and guitar, Michel on drums, and Radka on bass. They began rehearsing and developing their sound, which combined the rough edge of grunge with a more melodic approach.

During their debut performance, they recognized the need for a second guitarist. Anthony Cicanese was recruited to fill this role. Shortly afterward, Ben Radka was removed from the band for spending too much time with a personal relationship instead of the band. Cicanese then took on the dual role of guitarist and bassist, using an octave pedal to compensate for the missing bass.

Growth and Recognition (2023–present)

[edit]

The band began to attract a dedicated fan base, particularly after the release of their single, “Shea,” on June 8, 2023. The song contributed to their growing reputation in the local music scene.

On July 17, 2023, the band performed at The Big Dipper in Spokane, Washington. Their performance was praised by ‘’The Spokesman-Review’’, which highlighted their youthful energy and nostalgic sound. The review described their music as “simultaneously tight enough to sound skillful while also being raw enough to create distinct and tender, yet familiar, music.”

Musical Style

[edit]

Sølace’s music is influenced by the grunge movement of the 1990s, with a modern twist. Their sound is characterized by driving guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and dynamic drumming. The band’s ability to merge intensity with melody has been a defining feature of their live performances and recordings.
