Rohan Pramod Shrestha ( born March 6,1985 ) is an Indian photographer best known for his commercial, celebrity and fashion work.

Rohan is a distinguished photographer with a career spanning over 16 years, recognized for his work across a wide range of genres. His portfolio features notable figures including Lionel Messi, Amitabh Bacchan, Oprah Winfrey, Shah Rukh Khan, Ryan Reynolds and he has worked on renowned magazine covers and campaigns for leading brands.

In addition to his commercial work, Rohan has been involved in several significant collaborative projects. He co-curated the coffee table book Home Court with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and produced the Hanami photo series in partnership with the fashion brand Diesel. His engagement with the Cancer Patient Awareness Association has contributed to raising awareness for the organization. Rohan also documented the 2015 Nepal earthquakes, with his work published in the Huffington Post as part of relief efforts.

Rohan studied filmmaking and cinematography at the New York Film Academy and is a certified professional scuba diver. He is also a sports enthusiast, hosting podcasts with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB). Personal Life

Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on March 6, 1985, Rohan Shrestha is the son of Rakesh Shrestha and Jean Rodrigues.

Rohan draws his interest in photography from his father, Rakesh Shrestha, who at his time was a renowned photographer in Bollywood and a pioneer in this industry.

Education

Rohan's early education was at Learners Academy, followed by college studies at HR College of Commerce and Economics.

He further pursued formal education in filmmaking, cinematography and photography at the New York Film Academy (NYFA).

2006 - 2014

He began his professional journey by assisting his father, Rakesh Shrestha, from 2006 to 2009.

Following this period, Rohan worked as a freelance photographer from 2010 to 2012, during which he developed his skills and established his presence in the industry.

From 2012 to 2014, Rohan studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), where he also assisted the acclaimed film director and photographer, Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri.

In 2014, he returned to India and emerged as a significant figure in the photography industry.

2014–present

Being an outstanding photographer, Rohan has over a decade of experience in the industry. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to photograph a wide array of celebrities. His notable subjects include Bollywood actors and actresses like Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Ranveer Singh, Irrfan Khan, Ananya Panday, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Vicky Kaushal, Saara Ali Khan.

Along with the Bollywood celebrities Rohan has also worked with other noteworthy people such as Nita Ambani, Natasha Poonawala and G.V. Krishna Reddy.

Rohan's portfolio also includes work with notable sports personalities as Sachin Tendulkar, Leander Paes, MS Dhoni, Sunil Chhetri, Virat Kohli, and Sania Mirza to name a few.

  • Cancer Patients Aid Association : Rohan Shrestha collaborated with the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) to photograph children battling cancer, aiming to raise awareness. This initiative extended his renowned #whiteTseries, known for featuring Bollywood celebrities in white tees, to include black-and-white portraits of these young patients also dressed in white tees.
  • Kalote : Sheltering the Voiceless - is about the animals at the Kalote Animal trust and their existence which is home to over 600 animals.
  • Uncovering The Siddi - speaks about the Siddi community upon how they ended up in India as Bantu slave.
  • Nepal Earthquake, Sindhupalchowk - shares heart wrenching images of the earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015. Rohan along with the team of doctors spent time in north of Kathmandu, in the district of Sindhupalchowk and more specifically at the earthquake hit villages. His contribution by making " Nepali Relief " kept track of the donations and relief activities done by the team.

Life Underwater

Rohan obtained his diving license in 2008, marking the beginning of an extensive and adventurous journey in scuba diving. Since acquiring his license, he has embarked on numerous diving expeditions across the globe, amassing over 300 dives. Rohan's passion as a commercial photographer is complemented by his interest in underwater photography.

His striking images have garnered recognition with notable publications including National Geographic Traveller showcasing his work. He is also a marine conservationist and engages with organisations (Sea Shepherd Conservation Society , Sea Spiracy, & Late Rob Stewart Sharkwater Foundation) focused on marine issues, with a key interest in the conservation of marine ecosystems. His contributions to both commercial photography and underwater photography highlight his dedication and expertise in these domains.
