Roger Hawkins (born April 1960) is an English architect and co-founding Partner of the architecture practice Hawkins\Brown, an international design firm and winners of the both the Stirling Prize and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Awards, with offices in Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin and Toronto, North America.
Early life and education
[edit]Roger Hawkins was born in April 1960 in Nottingham, East Midlands. Both his parents were teachers. After the family moved to Dudley in the early years, he attended High Arcal School, now known as Beacon Hill Academy, Dudley, a comprehensive school located in Dudley, West Midlands. He studied architecture at the University of Sheffield, where he earned his MA Dip Arch RIBA in 1985. During his studies, he was awarded a Distinction in Architectural Studies at Diploma level.
Career

[edit]In 1981, Hawkins began his professional career working at architecture firm Vosbeck, Vosbeck & Associates for architect William “Bill” Vosbeck Jr, a former President of the American Institute of Architects(AIA), now known as VVKR. In 1984 he subsequently worked for architect David Rock (architect), a former President of the Royal Institute of British Architects(RIBA), at Rock Townsend. It was at Rock Townsend where he would meet Russell Brown.
Founding Hawkins\Brown
[edit]In 1988, Roger Hawkins co-founded the architecture practice Hawkins\Brown with Russell Brown. The firm has since gained recognition for its innovative and sustainable designs across various sectors.
