Pendergist Born In Bar Harbor Maine, Grew up in Ellsworth Maine, and graduated From Ellsworth High school and went on to Mount Saint Marys College (University) 1993. Pendergist granted a Red Shirt for a shoulder injury finished out his final college season 1994.

Pendergist a 3 time NCAA All American, with a 2nd place finish at the Division 1 NCAA Championship's Boise Idaho 1994. Notably Pendergist was undefeated at the indoor Pentathlon, winning the IC4A's all four years he participated, earning him a place in sport illustrated "faces in the crowd". 55m Hurdels, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 1000 meter run.
