Pratibha Jain serves as the Head of Strategy and Group General Counsel at the Everstone Group..[1][2] Before assuming this role, she was a Partner at Nishith Desai Associates, where she founded the New Delhi office and led the Funds and Regulatory practice[3][4][5].

Early Life and Education

Pratibha Jain earned her undergraduate degree in Economics (B.A. Hons.) from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. She then pursued a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) degree at St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford, where she was awarded the St. Catherine's College Bursary. Following this, she obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Harvard Law School as a Samuel Morse Lane Fellow.

Career

Pratibha Jain is a distinguished global lawyer with law degrees from India, the UK, and the USA. She has accumulated professional legal experience in the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, and India. Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Hong Kong. She has also worked with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and Mumbai[6].

Jain has been involved in significant projects in the financial services and regulatory sectors[7] both globally and in India[8]. Notable projects include representing the Ministry of Finance in establishing the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund and designing a USD 1.3 billion special window for funding stalled affordable and middle-income housing projects as an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF)[9]. She has also worked on the listing of companies on US exchanges and representing private equity investors in major investments into India, including Mubadala's investment in Reliance Jio and Reliance Ventures and Softbank’s USD 1.4 billion investment in PayTM [10]. Additionally, she has facilitated the listing of stock exchanges in India, including BSE and IEX, and represented investors in investigations by the Enforcement Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation, and Reserve Bank of India.[3]

Pratibha Jain is admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi in India and the Bar of the State of New York in the USA.[11]

Leadership and Public Policy

Pratibha Jain is actively involved in public policy issues.[12] and is frequently quoted in the media on these topics.[13][14] She holds leadership positions on various important committees[15], including the IVCA Executive Committee[16][17], FICCI Capital Markets Committee, and CII Financial Markets Committee. She also co-heads the IVCA Regulatory Committee[18][19] and serves as the Chair of the India Committee for the American Bar Association[20][21]

Fellowships and Awards

Pratibha Jain is a Fellow of the Seventh Generation Class of Ananta Aspen's Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network[22]. She was named "Woman Lawyer of the Year 2019" by Business World magazine[23][24] and was recognized as a Top Individual Lawyer by Forbes Legal Power List 2020.[25]

Public Interest Work

Pratibha Jain founded the WeForHer Foundation and serves as its Founder Trustee.[26]
