Portrait of Mary Tisdal (also called Mary Tisdal reading) is an oil painting on canvas by Angelica Kauffman, completed c. 1771 or 1772, the painting is located at the Joslyn Art Museum.
Description

[edit]The painting was executed under the use of oils on a 62.865 cm × 75.565 (24¾ in × 29¾ in) canvas.[1] It depicts, Mary Tisdal, wife of Philip Tisdal and main co-heiress and niece of Judge Henry Singleton.[2]
Mary Tisdal
[edit]Mary Tisdal (née Singleton) known as "the belle Marie", was the youngest daughter of the Rev. Rowland Singleton and his wife; Elizabeth Graham.[2] thus, niece of Henry Singleton.
In 1736, Mary married Philip Tisdal, the marriage brought her husband great wealth and influence.[3]
