Petar Todorović (Divostin, 30 January 1880 — Čelopek, 16 April 1905) was a Serbian officer and Chetnik from the time Chetnik actions in Old Serbia and Macedonia at the beginning of the 20th century.
Biography
[edit]Petar Todorović was born in the village of Divostin near Kragujevac on 30 January 1880. He graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade. On 16 April 1905, he participated in the first battle between the Chetniks and the Turkish army near Čelopek. Cheta armed groups under the command of voivodes Vojislav Tankosić, Doksim Mihailović, Aksentije Bacetović, Pavle Mladenović, Savatije Milošević and Lazar Kujundžić met the Turkish army head-on in combat.
In the Battle of Čelopek, Petar Todorović was killed in the fight, along with two other Chetniks Radul Kosovec and Ljuba Atanacković (see gallery photo). These are the only three recorded Serbian victims in this battle, while the Turkish losses were huge. Petar Todorović was buried in the village of Divostin, where his grave and monument are located.[1]
On 21 January 1906, a second fight took place in the same place -- Čelopek -- in which Vasilije Trbić nearly lost his whole group (22 men) to the Ottomans.
